Armorcast Buildings
« on: August 20, 2014, 02:20:26 PM »
Anybody remember the old Armorcast buildings?  I painted up a few that I had stashed.  These are really pretty nice buildings.  I was surprised to see these are still available for sale.

I applied a very simple paint job, but the effect works well, IMHO.

Hi, Sean,

Did you ever pick up any at the store? I'm pretty sure Sir Randall and I, both, had them out at some time.

"I have even used them as adobe (not perfect, but works) buildings to expand my old west town for large games."

You could make us all wear blu-blockers; everything would have the appropriate yellow tinge.  :D

Wow, a great concept: adjust the players vision, not the terrain!

Doug, as far as I'm concerned, the player's imagination goes a long way.  If inhibiting their ability to see color helps, then I'm all for it.

I think I got these at the store, but it would have been way back when.  Maybe even as far back as the Reunion, but probably the Randolph location.

I used to have about 40 ruined pieces, but those of disappeared into the ether somewhere along the way.

Indeed. These look great. And useable for a number of settings i would think.  8)

I'm honestly not impressed by that quality.

I don't know their price, but something like that could be easily done with foamcore and a cheap texturizing, with the very same results.
Not to mention the laser cut scenery (I'm not a fan of those) that at least can have a bit more details.

Everything, of course, depends on the price. But unless they are even cheaper than some laser-cut stuff, i'd say, although the painting is rather good, "ew". :(

When I first saw these, years ago, I just made my own building out of foamcore, textured with a mix of PVA+fine sand.
I'd say they don't look worse than the Original Armorcast ones  :D
