The opponents for my 101st - Germans in Normandy
« on: 31 August 2014, 10:44:30 AM »
I am still doing my best to stay focused on getting everything ready for a campaign from the Skirmish Campaign books: Normandy '44 - First Hours. Most of the scenarios in this book are US airborne vs. Germans from various units (artillery, fallschirmjäger, etc.).

After getting my US airborne done to a level where I have enough painted minis for the first two scenarios, it is now time to get the Germans started. I proudly present the first two guys from the German 2nd Battalion, 191st Artillery Regiment, 91st Infantery Division. Gefreiter Lutz and Gefreiter Sauer:

(no decals where harmed during the production of these fine soldiers)

Cheers,
Thomas

Excellent work! (again!)

Are these 28mm minis? (I'm sure they are, but hope that they are 1/32nd or bigger) as I don't know how you get so much detail in such a small area.

Thanks!
Yes, those are 28mm minis from Warlord Games. Regarding the details... you need a brush with a fine tip (not necessarily a small brush - it's more important to have a good tip), a little patience and practice, practice, practice. :) It gets easier the more you.... that's right: practice. :)

What I love so much about your work is that everything seems worn down and toned down, but it always has such a nice and pristine paintjob! I mean, you can't even tell it's a brushjob...

And, you can almost see the careful brushstrokes in the figures...

I wish I could paint like this.  :-*
