in this last pict the caption says "Machine Gun Company"????  maybe Mitrailleuses?..that's very strange

Italwars,
the "armeé des Vosges" (commanded by Garibaldi) among other formations had a battery of machine guns volunteers (1 batterie de mitrailleuses de volontaires).

No they were not able.
The mitrailleuses were a military secret to the point that the funds for the development came from the emperor's personal finances and not those of the ministry.
The main consequence was that no one (not even regular) was trained in advance.

just to say I received the Greens back for the New Papal
states Irish brigade.............enough figure types for a decent
and varied unit
