Isn't the symbol this guy has on his chainfist the symbol for a chainfist? don't think they covered stormbolters or powerfists, although looking at the symbols for bolter and heavy bolter it would he logical the stormbolter would be somewhere in between

Could be. It looks odd though, but I guess things don't have to make sense.  lol

It is; it sort of looks like two toothed jaws (at least to me ;) ); a chainfist has teeth, so there you go...  :D
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Yeah, I might use it.

I actually equipped my D.A. flamer terminator with a chainfist and mounted the weapons on the walking body, so maybe I should give him the paintjob like the illustration. Or as close I can get and still keep in my own colour scheme.

Loving the black Dark Angel Terminator  :)

Quote
For anyone who is interested, the original Beakey painting guide can be found here, and there are some modern pictures of the old marines that appear in that guide here (where you can see the colours better).

That is when it was fun (although time consuming) to paint Marines! I painted my first ever space marine as a Blood Angel Captain and remember sweating over trying to get that single wing and the blood drop right!! Really tempted to paint some old school marines right now...Mind you even the Space wolves werent d**ks back then, GW really ruined the Space Marines, with hindsight, some better models granted, but then it started to go downhill

Right the OP can has his thread back now :)

I would like to have an entire army painted up with ensignia and all the works. But my Blood Angels army is just too big for me to give them all this attention.

So for now I will do it to this Dark Angels squad. Maybe do some work on my Blood Angels at a later point.

The compendium has pics of terminator weapon badges for the chain fist and assault cannon, there's also a pic of a power fist with a badge that I assume is the power fist weapon badge

I must see what I can do, they are pretty detailed compared to the simple symbols in the RT book.

You know... It occurs to me that another reason for the loss of the weapon symbols is this; if you can see the trooper symbol, then you can definitely see what weapon each trooper is carrying!
I mean, you're hardly going to be confused whether a Terminator has a power fist or a power sword, or whether a trooper has boltgun or heavy bolter are you?  ;D

I think it is more of a training issue. So when the Field Police see a Bolter trained marine using a Flamer, they do something about it.... I don't know.

 lol
