Scratchbuilt 1/7000 Federation & Gorn Ships

Awesome!  I think I'll be breaking out the poker chips when it comes time to make a star base.  Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I'm just making the bases for the two light cruisers, so the next shot should be them primed or painted depending on whether or not I end up taking a picture before my next painting session.

I know it's pretty much more of the same, but I finished painting the two light cruisers.

Next up is plasma torpedo and drone markers.  I think I might do the super glue cotton swab pull method to make the trail.  I'm going to take beads, put them on pegs and then apply super glue, touch the cotton swab to it, let it set and then pull it away leaving a stream.  Then I'll repeat as needed and wet all the cotton together with paint and shape it into a tail.

Made some plasma torpedo markers. I had some clear plastic crystals from the dollar store and I brushed them with matte varnish mixed with ink. I know there's no blue ones on TV (they only ever show Romulans shooting Plasma and they're just red blobs), but I wanted the different colours to differentiate them for Federation Commander which has different torpedo types.

Cool effect taking down the shine a notch. I have to try that myself sometime.

I also reverse edge highlighted them with the same mixture, but darker.  I figured like painting fire, you need the lighter colour to be on the inside and the darker on the raised points.

I made two smaller ships.  A Gorn destroyer and a Federation frigate.

The frigate next to the heavy cruiser.  I decided that the windows look better at table viewing distance when they're bigger and have sharper edges and are less impressionistic.  I don't know if I'm going to go back and paint over the ones on the other two ships, but I think I'll be doing them more like the frigate going forward.

I had a game recently where I miscalculated my energy by one and couldn't turn away in time from two freshly launched plasmas of the largest variety.  My light cruiser went from fresh to completely destroyed.

I can't wait to see new updates !

My two small forces have been enough for quite a few games and I just haven't needed to make any more.  I got into 54mm historicals and that has been dominating my hobby time lately.  I honestly don't know when I'll be building my own ships again.  I have a load of 54mm Napoleonics to paint.
