Dorothy, Toto, Tin Woodman, Scarecrow and Lion Figures?
« on: 02 October 2014, 12:42:22 AM »
Been awhile, but a mad thought has struck me and I thought the knowledgable folks here might show me the way to the Yellow Brick Road and more crazy miniatures.

Are there 28mm miniatures for Dorothy, Toto, Tin Woodman, Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion?  I'm looking for canonical figures or even steampunkish.

I was reading the book to my kids and found that the Tin Woodman (yes, that is the way Baum spelled it) is an engine of pure killing destruction.  40 wolves beheaded in the dark of night, so quickly and quietly that Dorothy, Toto and the Lion never wake up to see the battle.  Let's not even get started on the Scarecrow and how many crow necks he wrings.  Who would have thought?

Thanks in advance.

Studio Miniatures has a zombie survivors set.

They're nice figure for post apoc, but definitely not canonical lol

Reaper, however, seem to have been reading your mind - link

edited to add Reaper link

Reaper's Preview Page ( http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Previews ) is currently showing a number of figures described as "Wild West Wizard of Oz": Dorothy (with Toto) and the Wicked Witch of the West look reasonably conventional; the Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Winged Monkey less so.

Edit: Oops - I missed zemjw's post.  Sorry.

It's interesting that there are a couple of ranges that do these characters and they are all funky mash up themes with guns. I would've thought that a fantasy version was a logical first choice, but what do I know? ;)

Fanticide has a whole flying monkey faction:

I have to say that the reaper Weird West figs have caught my fancy. Maybe I'll try and use them for Shadows of Brimstone somehow. Do you have any ideas about what rules you want to use? I'm thinking Song of  Blades and Heroes to be perfect for this one

The Pulp Alley rules would be perfect for this kind of league.  ;)

Well, it has been awhile, but I did find figures.  I got the new Reaper Chronoscope Dorothy, Tin Woodman, Scarecrow, Lion, Witch and mechanical Flying Monkeys.  They're really nice looking put together, and I got a start on the painting.  Thanks for the input.

I like the Victory Force Lion myself, maybe the Tinman with a little conversion.
JoeK Miniatures has a horror take on it called zO

Impact make two scarecrow players in their Elfball line

Elfball also make some cool evil trees called deadlings

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

You did say in the OP that steampunk was okay.  The western vibe of the Oz figures just didn't do it for me.
