Mexican themed outlaw posse
« on: 25 August 2008, 08:05:19 PM »
Hi,

Here is half of my Mexican posse which I'm using in a Lotow campain. One game played so far, lost to Indians due to too few long distance weapons. Learned my lesson and have been spending for a second rifle.

I'm quite happy with the result, especially with the dude with the bottle. But the best piece is the lantern with small barrel in my opinion. Scratch build from a doll house lamp, fireworks stick found last year and a barrel from Antenociti's workshop plus some hairs from an old wall painting brush :)

Looks good. I do like the barrels.
It is better to have gamed and lost than to never have gamed at all.

Really a nice job on everything.  The only trouble I see is the rope, looks to big, maybe you could try some wire

yeah i second bandit on the use of wire, i use two strands of thin fuse wire twisted together to give the effect of rope.
everything else is top notch.........well done  :)
Minor skin grafts can be performed on pigs by covering any cuts and grazes with thin strips of bacon.

Thank you!

I totally agree with the rope. I was eager to get it done and was a bit lazy to use the very first rope thingy that was laying around.. :D

very nice job all around.  ONe of the guys in our group wants to start an outlaw posse as well when we start playing in the next month or so.  How do you find outlaws to play?  Where are your figures from?

Figures are 32mm Black Scorpion miniatures except for the lady. She is Shadowforge's ranchers daughter.

I have played only few games using Outlaws and Texas rangers. It all depends how you like to play.  I'm more a player who goes head on with no planning, so the Texan rangers with multiple repeating rifles seems to suit me better of these two. But this also depends on who you are facing. It seems against Indians my outlaws lose, but Texan rangers win due to their better grit and marksman ship. Or they could be just lucky :) If you want big posse and plan to do lot of melee, then Plains Indians might be the answer. For me it was the Mexican theme I liked the most.

I hope this article from GW historical is useful:

Ps. Here is my Posse sheet if anyone interested.

Am I right in thinking that the 32 mm refers to the top of the head ond not eye-height (would make them closer to 29 mm to eyes)? They do not seem 3 mm taller than regular heroic scale 28 mms..?

Black Scorpion figures are a bit bigger then the usual 28mm heroic.

Witchhunter has an excellent size comparizon:
