Paul, was going to talk about these at the comittee meeting, but you weren't there!
These are beautiful!

Will enjoy seeing them in person, if ever. I also hear you have finished Ross' tower! :D

I know they are a bit modern for the 1970's, especially man on mobile phone!

Could it not be a radio ? Or a dictaphone ?

(The old 1970's secretarial joke : "Can I use your dictaphone ?" "No use your finger like everybody else")

I've eventually returned to my Geezers project.  :)  (Apologies for the threadomancy)

The next building is a bit more mundane, just a row of terraced houses.

I have decided to add the doors & windows at the end, after the main building has been painted, hence they are currently missing.  Painting will wait until I  have made another building or two, so that I can paint several together.

Like the Winchester pub, I will also do a seperate rear for the terrace which will have the back gardens etc.
Next up is another terrace, including a corner shop, then maybe a bank.

Overlord, that is just amazing...  :o
I'm currently in the planning stages to build some city buildings*, would you, and any other users of Depron and similar, mind answering some questions?
What is the "natural" texture of the Depron? (Is it similar to the rear of your Cowley Road tube station, or did you impress that texture with something?)
How solid/sturdy is the stuff exactly? In other words, how damage resistant is it and how much backing does it need to support itself? Would sturdy card (around 2mm  be enough?)
You see, I was originally planning to build my buildings out of cork, Matakishi-style, but the stuff is impossible to find locally. This lack of supply is nearly threatening to nip the project in the bud. :'( So now I'm looking at alternatives, and Depron seems to fit the demands nicely, without breaking the bank either...
The option to inscribe any chosen texture is pretty attractive, but I'm wondering if I'd be forced to give up building separate floors/accessible interiors if I would use Depron.

Thanks in advance!

*: I'm currently considering a core of generic "Victorian to now"-style buildings, with some swapout signature buildings to pin down a few different specific era's/genres ("steampunk", victorian, modern, post-modern/apocalyptic are my current ideas). By mixing one or more of the several subsets into the core set of buildings, I hope to be able to lay out several styles of city I might need, without needing to make full sets of urban scenery for e.g. Warmachine, VSF, Zombie, gang war, near-future or postapocalyptic games...

There is a definate texture.  The rear of the tube station shows this well.  All have have done is paint then drybrush it in a lighter shade, nothing more.  It would be good to depict concrete or asphalt roads if it were more durable.

I use Floormaster 6mm foamboard underlay for my buildings.  I also have some Polystyrol which appears to be the same (although white).  I believe both are similar (the same?) as Depron, but I have not used Depron to date.

Its reasonably sturdy.  It is most at risk to poking/stabbing as this will impress or puncture the surface.  With reasonable handling it shouldnt be a problem.  In buildings that dont have interior access it is enough to brace the interior with foamcore (Thick card would also work).  The arches are foam on the outside of a foamcore box, somewhat over-engineered but very sturdy.  Apart from the arches, my other buildings each fit into a photocopy paper box to help with safe storage.

The pub I made has a lift-off roof to enable interior access.  At a later point I intend to add a lift-out interior depicting the bar & a back room (not a full interior).  In all the buildings I use foamcore for the end gables.  This means that the brickwork doesnt extend to the edges of the buildings but does add strength and helps protect the corners of buildings where any damage is more likely to occur.  It loses a little in realism but, as all wargames buildings are a compromise of some sort, it doesnt bother me excessively.

I'm hoping to make a few buildings comprising multiple lift-off floors (as in Matakishi's cork tower blocks).  This will require particular care for a corner building I have in mind, as I will need at least 2 adjacent walls to be entirely Depron/foam.

As I said above I havent tried Depron.  The Floormaster foam is readily available to me (B&Q in UK) and is cheap; £11.98 for 6 square meters.  All the buildings I have made so far have used up less than 2 sheets (1 m sq) & I still have a load of off-cuts for garden walls etc.

Good to see my critical text reading skills are still sharp as butter! ;D

Anyway love the stuff. I've tried using floorfoam too but didn't make it work. Too elastic that which I got.

A slight deviation from the plan.  ::)  I decided to do a small block of garages:

When painted up the blue foam should look like concrete.
