Hound of Tindalos project
« on: October 15, 2014, 04:39:40 PM »
Decided to do my own depiction of the Hound as I dislike how all the depictions on the market make them litterally canine-like, where as I see the "hound" part of it's name more to do with it's hunting behaviour and primal nature.

It's still very much a work in progress.

so basicly mines going to be a large, asymmetric flying mouth. The white parts are bone, and the flesh around it is meant to be raw muscle. There will be four horns on it's back poking out horizontally surrounding a ribcage. The mouth will also have a large leech-like tongue coming out of it. it's roughly about 50mm in height, so quite big.

A tongue is definitely a must for a HoT. Teeth I'm not so sure about... Maybe not. Also, I would keep the lean body bit, despite the fact that it renains vague in the original tale if that was correct or not.

Some more progress on the hound. He's almost complete. He just needs his tongue. I'm tempted to add chains dangling off him too though. I'm not sure.

That's cool, I especially approve not going with canine attributes. KEEP IT RLYEH.

Thanks!

Yeah, I don't like how a lot of mythos stuff is "dumbed down" these days. I thought the whole point of the mythos creatures is that they generally go against conventional monsters, and that's the whole reason I like them. Strangely i got into HPL because people kept calling my monster designs "Lovecraftian" and I had no idea what they meant until I googled it!

I might do a deep one next as I have yet to see any depictions of those I like either. Infact the only Deep one i can remember I liked was the one briefly seen in the movie "Necronomicon".

It looks like this model may end up being commercially available to buy via Black Goat games as it's first ever miniature release. It will have rules and full colour artwork representation too.

If this all goes ahead (fingers crossed it does!) It may even lead to future Mythos releases.

The artist apparently doing art based on this creature is this guy : http://tenebraestudios.net/main/gallery/
