Slowly being replaced by Tabletop and Rent a Table Sales, then you can show and sell your own stuff/tat/bargains.

I have noticed that the real bargains at some B&Bs never get to the table anyway!

Or they get to the table and then disappear in the bunfight and when you go to pick up your money/unsold tat - neither are there and the organisers shrug their shoulders.

I have nothing against second hand trading, but the typical implementation which rewards a mad dash, combined with too cramped locations, is a recipe for semi-disasters. In last Tactica, I physically and literally couldn't get out of the area, never mind actually buying a thing. Wasn't even carrying a rucksack. It was a set-up you can read about in newspapers when something goes wrong and people get killed.

A few hours later there will be room, and plenty of broken plastic space marine kits at store prices to choose from. lol

There may be a better way, but if the stuff is limited by definition, the only way to avoid a "first come" rush is an auction, and those are better handled online anyway.

Like being in a rugby scrum with a tribe of people that all possess rucksacks but had not heard of soap.....

Exactly.

Having traders on that side now adds at least another £4k to Salute's turnover, the B&B must have just cost.

The B+B was run by the SELWG club, so not sure if the Warlords made anything at all from it.
You may have hit the nail on the head there, Phil.

Plus it must have been the least favourite chore for the stewards to do, almost a naughty corner. I mean would you want to man it? I wouldn't.

I used to man it - no idea why it was cancelled. Instead of doing it last year I brought my son and his friend, forgetting how often young boys need feeding! I think I might just come on my own this year, wander round at my own pace and down a pint or 2 :)
