Carthaginian Veteran Command
« on: 09 November 2014, 07:11:36 PM »
Hi All,
Here's a couple of pics of our upcoming Carthaginian Veteran Command set - Matt has a few bits and pieces to finish off, but hopefully you get the gist!  ;)

The pack will be composed of 4 figures; the standard bearer and the musician that you can see, and two officers (off which more soon). The standard bearer we've equipped in an Oscan triple disc styled breastplate, as per a beautiful item found near Carthage. As these guys are Hannibal's veterans, we figured he could well have looted this item from an unfortunate Italian, and taken it back home for the final showdown as Zama!

Hope you like them  :)

Thanks Guys,

Here's a shot of the whole set of 4 figures complete - the Commander in his lion-skin is a beauty (even though I say so myself!) Matt's done a fantastic job on his ornate armour and animal pelt. I'll try and post some close-up shots soon so you can get a better look.

These chaps will be included in our upcoming box set of 'Hannibal's Veterans' - more info on that soon

Cheers
Greg

Wow... :-* :-* :-*
Lovelly ones.

Now that everyone is doing Punic Wars in plastic why not some celtiberians?
A plastic box of foot and another mounted would be a welcome adition as allied troops both for rome and carthage.
These miniatures are too often forgoten and they took an important part in these conflicts.

Rui,
You have to much lead to paint already !

Excellent sculpting, anyway.
Very interesting idea too.

Great to see that lions head on the general, will you be making surging veterans with the look of Celts spaniards and Italian Greeks? I would say your Punic range is the best looking out there

Thanks Guys,
Glad you like them. I agree that Celt-Iberians are under done for this period, as well as Lusitanians. They are certainly on the road-map, but there are other contingents that need to take priority! I'll post some pics soon of the veteran foot to go with the Command set.

Cheers

I was thinking more of the third line at zama all of hannibals italian veterans, do something like give them scars, plundered rings, bangles, expensive looted armour, but also remaining bits of the armour from their own cultures, such as a greek or spainish helmet, a Celtic sword ect as they were a mixed bunch.

For me, the great missing items are casualties from any nations.
Better : wounded packs and dead packs. Just like A&A did for some references but in the same pack.
For conversion work, it could be great fun.
