Eutaw Springs 28mm AWI
« on: November 25, 2014, 11:23:58 PM »
Eutaw Springs,AWI-part 1. We started playing Eutaw Springs Monday night,I had no idea how bloody this battle was..sheesh! I was American w/ my over cautious friend ,who I told to advance unformed thru the woods w/out scouting ,at the double to catch the british at breakfast.I thought he was going to have a heart attack. But we caught them napping, and had initial success,w/ the 3rd continental dragoons routed 5 british units by luck (small units),only to be shot to ribbons by the british flank companies sitting behind a garden wall with steady muskets by the plantantion house. The british has managed to stop our right flank attack(militia),but I still have 7x continental units in the fight. To be continued....We use Ken Bungers Tricorne rules w/ AWI modifiers, such as open order for the british.

Lovely. I love playing with multiple generals on a side and the convincing that needs to occur to do (or not do) something.

Hi,

Great looking game!

I also love multi-general games but there's only me and one other wargamer hereabouts!

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Paul

This is quite the game! I hope to play one this well put together sometime...

I particularly like your fencing - it really defines the table.

The building and fencing were from a guy in Missouri, who has sadly passed. Thanx for the comments.

Nice looking game indeed. Sounds like you had a great time too... I don't know of any wargamers around here... I miss wargaming soooo much :(

We finally finished the game but my friends camera broke. Anyway the british had their strength on the flanks where we had militia, and they kept rallying ,we do 2xturns of rallying for every turn of rout. And we used hidden movement in the woods ,where we still had six small continental regts.,which burst upon the british center ,force one unit to surrender, while one of my Maryland units moving up the road, was run thru from the rear by routing British legion cav. It was quite a bloody ,no sense of line integrity,cluster..oh yeah artillery on both sides were caught up in routs ,and were not a factor. The british finally withdrew with ,but the americans were in  such a disarray,we write messages, and then send couriers, wellone courier was lost, one killed, one captured, and the last one misunderstood,I told my wing commander to attack the left I meant the enemy left,he went to the other side.....sigh...love AWI. :-*
