Civilian models in 1:56 what is needed?
« on: December 05, 2014, 10:33:14 PM »
Hey LAF...

We are liking the Toyota Hilux model so much, that we are thinking of doing a Toyota Twin Cab (2013) just for fun, as well as a few others...  But, I though I'd see what else folks would want.

we are trying a couple of new methods for casting these...so the prices point should be pretty low.  Or maybe we have two models in a pack...

Anyway, what makes sense?  I remember someone asked about a Suzuki Samurai!

right now the following models are getting cast:

1960's - 70's
Toyota Hilux
Toyota Land Cruiser
Land Rover

2010 +
Mercedes G SUV
Toyota Twin Cab pickup
Looking to do 2-3 more generic cars for a variety of game scenarios...

Ford Cortina or Pontiac for 1970s era detective games?
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

Some kind of SUV for urban games and VIP transportation in other locations

Personally, I'd love to see some 1950s and 1960s era British and French sedans. Austins, Morrises, Wolseleys, Renaults, Peugeots and Citroens. A properly scaled 2CV would be lovely. The sort of vehicle that would dress up scenes from the Caribbean, through Africa to the Far East any time from the 1959s to the 1980s. A Ford F100 would be nice too.

The other thing that would make an excellent bit of kit would be one of those Italian/French/Japanese tricycle types vans. The sort you see flitting around bazaars and streets in Pakistan, the Philippines etc, etc.

I second a tricycle van,or a nice 60's Mercedes 600 or Citroen sedan, something nice for dictators to ride in,even some motorycles for escort.

I would love to see some 1980s cold war era vehicles, both German and Soviet to litter a post nuclear setting. Trabants, Mercedes, BMWs Urals, etc.

I would love a late model Chevy Suburban, and you could do a Tahoe by just shortening the back end.

The Suzuki Samurai would be fun too.

I'd love a minibus, such as a Toyota HiAce, suitable for African settings.  Ubiquitous.

The tricycle van seems like a good bet.  So which model should we reference?

I've already got a small tuk tuk on my todo list (of the driver/two passenger variety) just so we avoid duplication of effort.

Piaggio Ape would be my choice, simply for longevity. They have been making them since the late 1940s, various models but I like the older ones best.

Disney do a version of that in about 1/55th scale. I am just undercoating one at the moment.

I'm the madman who asked about the Suzuki Samurai.  And if you build it, I'll buy it.
