Boromite Command Group
« on: December 14, 2014, 02:11:22 PM »
I have painted recently this command group of the Boromite faction for "Beyond the Gates of Antares". Perhaps because I´m used to the Haslefree Miniatures models, I´m not too happy with these models from Warlord Games. I think they have a problem with the "finishing" of their models.

Nowadays, very solid figures, with a really particular look and a pleasure to paint.

I´m going to paint some more of them, of course!

Cheers!

I like the style of the Boromites and your paint scheme works well with them.  Im looking forward to seeing more.

Very nice work, and good colour choices.

By 'finish' do you mean issues with the sculpt quality or poor casting? The Warlord stuff I've painted has been poorly cast.

Yes, a not too good casting because the sculpt of many of these figures is very good (perhaps I´m too used to Empress and Haslefree Miniatures  lol).

They look like Dr. Who villains -- and I mean that in a good way.

Very nice painting.

If you think that, check out the 3d renders of the new Ghar faction for BGOA. Their description reminds me of Dialekts. But in a 3 legged, fully enclosed, armored and clawed type.

Aside from that. I love your Boromites. I have some on my hobby table right now and am trying to think how I want to paint mine.

Great paintjob, makes the miniatures better than expected. I have a real problem with this range, hope some new races can thrill me. The rules are nice, but the races needs getting used to it.
Your painting may help me a little bit.

What NurgleHH said. Nice job on those. I hope to pick up the rules (a free lite version/quick start set would be nice) and some of the Algoryn (Al Gore?) next year.

Nice work.   I'll be looking forward to seeing them in action and hearing your opinions of the ruleset.

Very nice painting.

You should see them in white and blue: VERY Eldrad.  ;)

Not to take anything away from yours, Juan!

You can download the beta-ruleset at the website (Warlord games). It is near to bolt action, simple and fast. Only thing is, that you should workout the weapons for other variations like 40K.

Better start saving my scratch - 2 Algoryn squads, a command group and one support weapon weigh in at over $110 USD plus shipping.  :o

Are you referring to the Hasslefree or Warlord figures?  I don't recall the exact price, but I had a similar reaction when I saw the cost of the Warlord BGOA figures. 5-6 buck per fig infantry units, $16 resin commanders? I know this is a Preistly production, but are they really trying to be GW?

I should probably take my own advice and not judge a ruleset by the price of it's miniatures, but when I saw this it did bounce BGOA down a few places on the list rulesets I plan to spend some time investigating.
