In lieu of someone who has a real knowledge on the topic, I recall the Army wore US style olive drab fatigues and caps,, with M1 (or the similar Soviet type) helmets in either olive green or a stone-like colour. Obviously the fatigues washed out into a variety of shades, which when combined with newer items gave a range from OD to a grey-green. There may have been a lightweight sand-coloured 'summer uniform' too, which could be worn with OD items, especially the M65-type combat jacket.

LBE was a variety and mix of types, with even British '37 pattern making an appearance on occasion. It seems to usually be of a much lighter colour than the uniform usually. Boots appear to have been black.

A search on the Iran-Iraq war should give you plenty of pics.

The Republican Guard 'probably' had US Woodland BDU fatigues, as well as the above... but I wouldn't take just my word for that.

Cheers,

So far gone with WW2 Feild grey fatigues in the most part, with a XV88 base for some desert camo bits, looking for a suitably olive green webbing colour,

They have sandles on tho....

I should point out they are AA Mg gunners converted from Somalians I think.....

Happy to just be getting over the figure shock that has stopped me painting them lol

I know some of our guys captured some unused clothing stock. It was a three tone desert cammo that wasn't U.S. issue. I don't know if any of the Iraqi forces actually wore that type of cammo though. Most of what I say they wore the grey- green fatigues.

Technically speaking the Iraqi M80 helmet was a Iraqi knock off of a South Korean knock off of the West German knock off of the US M1. It wasn't even a steel helmet but made from plasticated compressed fibre with fairly dubious ballistic properties.

There's a bloke who posts on here from time to time and sculpts modern 28mm figures for a well known Australian manufacturer who mentioned his potential interest in doing Iran-Iraq War figures, possibly by way of a kickstarter. Maybe if folk expressed sufficient interest he'd give it a shot.

Thanks guys,

Done my best

Think I'd rather paint a 1000 Napoleonics before I face another modern figure :(
