Battles, Blood and Buckets of Dice (A Eurolog Homage)

So this story starts back in 1991 at Games Fair in Reading. I was an under-aged attendee at my first weekend games convention. I discovered three things that would change my (gaming) life: Eurolog (wonderful people, great games and better friends for a number of years), Battle system (damn I love rolling a massive handful of D12s) and 6mm minis from irregular (what a 1,000 figure army is only that big, GET OUT OF TOWN!).

I took part in the Eurolog 6mm Battlesystem game and loved it (I made the final and even got a mention in July’s GMI). It was the high point of my existence. On arriving home I placed a massive order for irregular 6mm…

… and now 23 years later I am at last ready to play!

So here goes. I have slightly adapted the rules conversions used by Eurolog that great day, mainly regarding measurement which will just use cms instead of inches. And while most of that massive order has now been painted, of course by other people, I am not even using them as I can’t get access (and because these ones are sooooo pretty too!). I’m using some of the minis I bought from 6mmFan on this very forum.

I'll be playing through the games in the book

So here is the set up:

Here are the armies:

And here are the buckets of dice:

Mid life crisis I hear you say? I F’ing hope not as I’m not even forty!

Any way I hope to get cracking over the Holiday Period!

nice painting no some tiny minis. I have to ask though what's 'Eurolog'?

The battle lines are drawn, thanks to m4jumbo, and Good Prince Dirkly tries to take the throne back from his uncle "King" Filanor:

Dirkly on the right ad Filanor on the left:

With no one charging in the first round Dirkly's forces advance, perhaps the knights feel a little isolated...

It doesn't take long though as the armies clash, from their vantage point the erchers open up and I get to roll a massive handful of D6s

Some thundering charges later, and me forgeting the minimum charge distance, the carnage is MASSIVE! And I get to roll masses and masses of dice!

The cav make very short work of the swordsmen!

Dirkly's Axemen come to save the pinned cav

Leaving the bow and peasants isolated

But they finally break and fall

Meanwhile on the otherside of the bridge after softening the charging knights Dirkly's archers hold they on and even force them back!

But the peasants fall...

As a new day dwans while Dirkly and his knights arrive in time to save the day?

YES

But only just with 5 archers and three knights left...

I loved playing the game and Rolling those dice, but the best part was using great minis with amazing paint jobs and reliving my youth.

EVen though it was a solo game I had a lot of fun!

Nicely done, looks like a lot of carnage on the battlefield.   How are you tracking casualties with the multi figure based units?  Just tracking on paper until a stand is gone?
So many games, so little time.

<yes, and this time round it got messy, I need to sort out proper sheets with tick boxes and number of figure esp fr the cav etc, mutli figures per base and multi hits per mini.

A lot of my other minis are on strips for five, and five 1 hit minis go pretty quick so that will make it easier!
