1879 Russian Invasion of South Australia!
« on: January 03, 2015, 07:17:58 PM »
Hi All,

I have been working on a project for a while which will include seven skirmish level scenarios in a campaign covering a Hypothetical Russian Invasion of the Colony of South Australia in 1879.

Over the Christmas break with the help of two friends we replayed the first two of these seven skirmish games several times.

Hopefully you'll find my 'The Russians Are Coming Campaign' interesting.

The initial game is called 'Where Are All The Horses?' A quick run down of the situation was a group of Cossacks on reconnaissance and forage mission came to grips with a section of South Australian riflemen who were waiting for them. The fierce Cossacks fought well but were bettered by good marksmanship (helped by hidden placement in good defensive positions!).

It was played four times, one solo game and three face to face ones and went well. There were three Colonial victories to one for the Ruskies.  These skirmish games are nice and quick so replaying is easy and very helpful when you crash and burn as it allows you a second chance on the spot!

Here's a few pictures:

The full AAR is on the below Blog which will be pretty much dedicated to this campaign including a rational and background of the invasion and more on Captain Darling!
