1879 Russian v South Australian Skirmish Campaign Game #2
« on: January 22, 2015, 10:24:06 AM »
Hi All,

I worked on the weekend as our company moved location so I have had a couple of extra days off this week and have caught up with "The Russians Are Coming" campaign stuff.

I've added the OOB and AAR to the blog.

A quick summary of game two has the Russians raiding behind South Australian lines in an effort to capture a homestead and destroy the vital communications equipment stored there. A detatchment of men of the 36th Infantry Division were given the task and they came up against militia from the Port Adelaide Volunteer Rifle Company. In the ensuing action the Russians prevailed! A full AAR is on the blog here:

A nice little skirmish!

Hi,

good 'historical' action there!

Question about the minis, how do the Outpost minis scale with Perry miniatures?

Hi Pocoloco,

Thanks! In these games I'm using Warlord/Empress figures for the Colonials and the Outpost figures size wise are very compatable but they are a bit more stocky in stature. The only Perry figures I have are the plastic ACW ones and the comparison between them and the Outpost figures is the same as for the Warlord figures above.

Here's my review of the Outpost Russians:

Hi Matt,

thanks for the info and link to the review.

I have been contemplating a small skirmish side of things for the Russo-Turkish war and been wondering if I could use the Perry's Sudan range Bashi-Bazouks and Outpost Russian as their opposition.
