The comments from everyone have spurred me on with this, so thank you for the inspiration all!  More sculpting done (not ready for pics yet!) and I've been playing around with the 'hieroglyphs' on the base... literally just started so not finalised....and obviously not the upside-down 'david'

Along with everyone else I must say your sculpting skills are most impressive. But I must also compliment your painting skills. While there are a few rough gems in the mix I was never a big fan of the RAFM CoC line, but I'm looking at those serpent men in a whole new light, definitely going to be adding those to my serpent cult. And as far as the glyphs go I gotta say that top version looks really nice. I'll add in my hopes that you eventually get this casted, and as always thanks for sharing.

Have you considered doing the hieroglyphs "mirror style" - reversed left-for-right? It adds a whole new level of wierd, but is actually very simple to do.

I should mention that the idol has been finished - I've purchased it, and I'll be casting it in resin some time in January.
