SOTR 1949 II
« on: 05 January 2015, 05:53:52 PM »
Just saw that West Wind Productions changed the cover photo on their facebook page. I hope this is dramatic foreshadowing! I've been waiting for this!

So do we want to start throwing up a wish list here?

I know I'm keen for:

An Index/Appendix (please!)
Clearer wording on rules for Mortars
More symmetrical scenarios
Polish OOB included in main book
Japanese OOB without Zombies
Alternative OOBs for existing armies (Marines, ANZACs, Spetznaz, Spanish etc.)
Double-sided quick-reference sheets for weapons, vehicle damage etc.

Anyone else?

Clearer rules in General.  Close combat always confused me.
Lots of Examples

Ohh.

A friend at the club loved the first edition and I liked it too.
They just need to clear up some things... Well rather lots of things in the rules...

But I liked it.
This could be nice, maybe what it takes for me to get some ww2 and www2 models again.  :D

Always played my games as ww2 with just a small twist strange for that very reason.  I think the last game I played my entire army was conventional WW2 stuff but with a genetically engineered big gribbly that my Germans were taking for field tests.

The US were also conventional with the addition of a super soldier of some sort.

I would love adding random event/ strategic card that would be horror/weird, so even standard army build would have a weird vernish.

I know what you mean Montiboy. Some of my favorite games involved using the "Gotterdammerung" rules from the Game Effect Chart (pg 141). There's nothing like having a Hell Mouth open and having to deal with a Greater Demon or a bunch of lesser demons in the middle of your fire fight!

Plus one to all of that, but really better rule clarifications for most things, great system and ideas but the way some things are presented are a bit confusing.

Maybe for the extra weirdness FATROC and Montiboy want we could get the option of using stratergy cards like back in 2nd Edition Warhammer 40,000? Weapon malfunctions, demon possession, low ammunition, breakouts of plague. if you went with cards you can choose how many if at all to have and just draw at random before the game starts.

Don't know if you need the cards. The Game Effects Chart on page 141 is a lot of fun. My favorite is "Gotterdammerung", but "V-Gas Contamination Zone", "Here Be Zombies", and "Radiation Zone" can be nasty and make games that much more interesting. All you have to do is roll 2D6 for random, or just pick one. Definitely like the idea of two sided quick reference cards. Would like to see them correct and expand the Historical Vehicle section.
