I spent almost 2 years preparing for this KS, collecting all the Weird War stuff I could. I have the V1 rules and was waiting patiently for V2. I've done an American and one German force and with the KS I would buy starters for other forces.

I even promised some demo games at my local store as soon as the KS started. Pledged way high, waiting for the unlocked Japanese/USMC...and then this...I still can't believe it  :'(

What now? They are already deleting all references from SOTR II from their Facebook page  :? Will we get the remastered figures? Will we get the V2 rules at all? And what about the new figures. So many question left unanswered  >:(

What now Predatorpt? I guess the answer is keep playing the existing version. I'm as disappointed by events as the next man, but lets not throw all our toys from the pram yet - (not trying to be rude, just voicing a feeling) as the current edition is still a good game & one I really enjoy.
From their explanation it looks like we could be waiting a while yet, but does that mean we should stop playing a game with a perfectly functional -(yes I know FJ drop armour platoons were broken & some of the characters weren't really worth the points, but still) - ruleset that was fun to play.
So, while we may have to treat WW anouncements with more circumspection, why stop having fun with it - it is still the best platoon level WWWII game out there, (What'll happen with the Clockwork Goblin/Warlord co-operation on Konflict 47 is yet to be seen) with a flexibility absent from the others. I for one hope that they can pull it together & find a way to do it - I find myself wishing them all the best as they've been responsible for a product I've really enjoyed, with several years of enjoyable dice rolling.

Yeah, I know we can still play the old version, but not knowing what will happen with the future of the game...that's what's bugging me.  :'(

And I really wanted the Japanese and the USMC...and the Russians  lol

Just guessing, but I think some figures have already been mastered and suspect that they'll come out anyway.

Let's hope so, though it might've helped to have seen them sooner.I was surprised how much of the stuff  still appeared to be at the concept art, stage.

Really confused on the way the KS was run. For years all the talk has been about V.2 rules, expansion to the Pacific with USMC and IJA. The kick starter hits and it seems as if the primary goal was rule book (excellent) and re-mastering and/or retooling the original four armies. With Pacific Theater, IJA and USMC as stretch goals. I could support that too if it was laid out more clearly, especially for the few missing minis from the first two books. 76% funding in 6 days isn't bad. They could very easily re-organize and re-launch a ks that would succeed. Demo video, 30 days instead of 20, clearly state what the original goal is. Define target funding and stretch goals. Take advantage of their extensive mini range to create add-ons. Jagerhund Werewolf pack, Comanche, Wolverine, and Suslik mining suits. If the RP value is roughly 20-25 RP per starter set, one our two support add-ons gives a new player a playable 30 RP platoon with plenty of room to expand. The mix of new and existing models in their add-ons was a step in the right direction. Even the 3 original artwork pledges were a nice touch. They just should have been up the first day. Then maybe reveal 1 or 2 more through the campaign.  ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

A little disappointed, as I really wanted that V2 rulebook, but we all know that KS is always a risk. Part of me is glad that they pulled out early, rather than taking our money and us having to beg for refunds for something that'll never come.

Meantime, I'm going to go back to pushing the game in my local area. I like to think that the armies and event games that NWA do inspire the people that see them on the forums, so I'm going to keep doing that. I've never bought into the idea that a game is "dead" just because a company stops supporting it (which is not the case here anyway), the existence of the "Oldhammer" crowd is proof enough of that. As people have pointed out, there are plenty of people making WWII and WWWII minis and the SOTR rules, despite their flaws, are still pretty damn awesome.

On a personal note, I may actually get my workbook back out and finish my IJA OOB and get it out there for playtest. Also, I have some basic outlines for Spanish and Free French forces.

As one of those who have enjoyed your demo days in the past (and my son, ahed 11 or so at the time did too), I think this is a great idea.  I'll be back in Australia next year and I might just have to take a trip to Melbourne for Little Wars again!  :)

Given that most kickstarters have a rush the last day wherein they gain 20% of their funding, it seems like even their funding goal may have been too low for them, and they were counting on getting more than that. Otherwise I don't see why they would cancel so early. I think they probably could've made the bare minimum funding goal if they had let it ride. Obviously that wasn't good enough, however, which is a bit bogus.

Just saw this on the SOTRII ks comments section from Andy Cooper. Encouraging.

Thanks everyone for taking time to post your kind words and also your views. This is by no means a fail, just not in the current offer which was not viable with the number of backers.

We are in talks with John Bailey and Ian Hill and looking at a good way forward for both rules and miniatures. So at the moment it's business as usual for West Wind and Forged in Battle. We will keep you posted as we have more information. Thanks again for your superb support.

Hey, that Incursion container of goodies should be with us at West Wind on Thursday! :) so we should be able to start shipping out the EU rewards a week on Monday.

Ah damn! I was waiting on a pay or two yet, flying home for holidays left me very out of pocket. That it was cancelled so early leaved me a bit bewildered.

I wasn't into this KS myself aside from keeping an eye on it on the off-chance I'd win the lottery, but this is pretty much the impression I got out of it too.
And I'm not sure what to make of the "not coming back to Kickstarter". Do they mean they'll try it at some other funding platform? Because I can only see that doing worse.

I really have no idea what I'm doing.

A bad time for mainstream Weird War II, with Dust seemingly going up the creek as well.

In the meantime, 1st edition is still a fine game, and there are plenty of nice Weird War miniatures out there, but lack of official support, even for a while, sure kills off motivation.

Damn shame, this. Good thing at least I never got around to backing the KS.
