Looks great mate  8)

You'll enjoy yourself sticking them together seeing how the hard work has been done.

That's impressive dedication; you're not making your life easy by building it log by log, but I guess the end result will be worth the effort.

Thank you gents, encouragement needed.

Continued the build after skiing and noticed that I hadn't taken into an account short corner pieces that are needed for both the doorway and later on for the window type thing (no glass there though) along one of the short edges. *sigh*

Anyways after some more cutting and also bit of glueing this is how it all looks now. There will be a small window along the long wall, that's going to have a frozen window. There will be four more log levels to go before I will start making a door and roof. Then it will be time for the base itself.

Since it's normal working week ahead, progress will be slower once again...

Many thanks McMordain, happy that you like it so far, lets see how it turns out in the end  ???

Managed to finish the basic frame work, it does have a nice tilt to it, which I will hopefully manage to enhance with the roof even a bit more… or at least the feel of the old building, heaving under the weight of years and lots of snow :)

Started also with the door. Old tradition was that sauna door should not be higher than height of five logs so that was an easy measurement to make. Added then somewhat worn but used-to-be-fancy door frames. Thinking of very worn white for the frames and likewise worn yellow for the door itself.

Next stop will be a smallish glass window on the long wall and then to make the roof  o_o

Here's the pic, two Empress Talibans to show the scale of things.

Cheers for looking.

I really like your approach to the construction.  It's like watching a real build but in miniature (have you built a full size sauna?)  8)

Btw, will the sauna come with a leggy blonde?

Many thanks lads, much appreciated.

Never built a real 1:1 sauna in real life myself, been helping around though with couple of summer cottages (log walls and all that and naturally those included saunas as well :) ).

That IS nice.  8) 8) 8)
The dimensions and layout look surprisingly like the saunas we installed on Russian timber carriers we were building in the '80s!

Thank you kindly Sirs  :)

@vanvlak: saunas on Russian timber carriers in the 80s, that sounds like an interesting story

@Suber: I'm afraid it's not that amazing any more... see the pics below  :?

@dampfpanzerwagon: I think I would have needed all the luck yesterday...

Spent last evening tackling the roof and the end result is not something I had envisioned it to be when I began. First made three quite flimsical roof trusses (spelling?) and also the side window. The window glass (clear plastic from a blister pack) will get a winter treatment later on, before I will attach it to the building. Trusses were quickly put together without too much planning, in the end I think I should have spent more time on them and maybe even build those in somewhat sturdier manner...

And here how it looks as of now. Trusses are hidden underneath the roof planks which will be covered by individual shingles. Going to start that today. The whole build looks quite ramshacklish, maybe even too much hodgepodge build as of now but maybe painting it all will remedy it somehow...

Yes, the trusses (by themselves) look flimsy - but that last photo looks great. You're being too hard on yourself.

Cheers von Lucky, I hope it will improve some how, at least in my own eyes when I'm finished with this.

Haven't worked on it now for two days due to being busy irl but hope to catch up during the weekend.

I had a vid of it with a similar led candle already seen in many topics here but it seems video can't be showed through PB? It does have a nice effect, almost like somebody has just started a fire inside and moments after the whole thing catches fire  :)

Got the base for the whole build and will start "terraforming" it soon. Does look somewhat small in the pic, don't know if I get all the elements on it what I had planned, we'll see.
