Wow - impressive!! I am loving all the "stuff buying one from the shop, when I can make it out of card" business going on around here lately.

It's worth noting that this plane is small, with a wingspan of 25 feet that's just over 4 of me (or 2 Jimbibblys or 8 Malamutes).

 lol  lol  lol

What LED will you be running Steve?

I walked in and out of a shop yesterday to grab some essentials. Got home, found the battery pack to long, and the interwebs told me I needed resistors :( the cheap Chinese flickering tea lights don't have resistors. Grumble grumble grumble.

What will you be using??? :D

Cheers
Matt.

 :)

Yep long grass - the terrain tiles will have teddy bear fur (for summer 1914).

As regards the LEDs Matt, I can't lay my hands on the specs at the mo but they flash and don't necessarily need a resistor: I got them from a place called Rapid Online but they sell 1000s and I can't find 'em.

Day 4 with another early update.

Tail parts were attached to the main structure.

Adding the top of the fuselage was somewhat less successful and I eventually clad it in thin (0.25mm I think) plasticard.

To which I added ribs to define the required shape (with ribs also added to the tail and Idc the wings).

The plane will have a nose down profile so I added weights to the cavity that was the engine compartment.

Like the upper part of the fuselage the nose shape wasn't working out so both areas had their first application of Milliput.

The ribbing on the wing's etc,If your going to back fill the gap's to detail the profile. Then fill and shape on an angle allowing the clay to sag,and leave little ridges at roughly 60°to the  rib' s.that'll give you the 'feel' of cloth.

In fact, no more of your unwanted 'help' please: you're air of 'I know best' sucks the fun out of it for me.

I will put context to your I know best comment.I sculpt for living I've eleven different ranges of figure's,with nine companies, and a further eight I do tech work for.I also have ranges in my own name which inclued vehicles and bi plane models.I do not claim to know better than anyone else. You stated you were having problems,I only offered a short cut.As I've come accross similar problem's in the past.
I'm sorry you were not able to see the spirit in which my advice was intended. That said I do take on board, that felt uncomfortable with my input.
But I would not wish you to with draw from the comp if it is related to my posts.I wish you would continue your build as I was honestly enjoying your work.
Mark.

I just do this for fun and if it's not fun I don't do it.

The rules state that there are to be no team efforts and you were providing 'help' that I hadn't asked for.

My decision stands and so mods please lock thread.
