Have you tried asking places that sell them in sets if they would sell it separately?

I can't think of one offhand. I was going to mention that Black Cat had the Obelisk range with the required 'buyer beware' caveat- but it looks like the range has been removed. There must be some forward movement at Black Cat if they returned the molds.

I'll try to think of some.

Nice, two companies that weren't on my radar. Good finds!

You can get a nice one out of toy shops that does as King Kong size in 28mm. Mine has a howdah added.

You are warned that an ape howdah is a bullet magnet, and anyone in the howdah has a disturbing tendency to get hurt when it falls over dead!

I own this bad boy from Hundred Kingdoms by Black Orc Games:

It's not my gorilla in the pic, but the chap who painted it, runs Left Handed Miniatures and I believe he has some in stock.

Hope that helps.

I ordered one of these Schleich kid's toys recently...

...it hasn't arrived yet but I believe it's supposed to be 8cm or 9cm tall, so pretty good for a King Kong.

Still a part of a set, but at least it's a set of gorillas - Pulp Figs PLT-10 http://pulpfigures.com/products/view/183

Or a search of toy shops for 'safari tubes', etc. More sets, but cheap enough to discard the rest into a charity bin/shop.

Black tree designs also have jungle animals including gorillas.
