Spartan Games gets a licence for HALO.
« on: 09 February 2015, 07:04:17 PM »
http://www.spartangames.co.uk/spartan-games-is-to-produce-halo-tabletop-miniatures-games

Not sure what more I can add beyond that. I'm not the biggest fan of halo but I do respect it for having a pretty interesting lore after so many games. The page seems to also mention ground assault but I'm not sure if they mean that they are happy producing their own firefall game or that hey are making a halo ground game.

Which brings me to the point, of Spartan games never being the best at communicating in the past, and we all know licences never improve that... Still it might be me but it really looks like getting a big IP into model form is more and more common these days, which I love.

Not a fan of HALO, aside from Red Vs Blue, and oft disappointed in Spartan, yet, I find this great news.

Just look at those ships!

Thanks for the heads up, YPU!

Is it OK if I squeal with delight at this news?

At least until my wallet starts feeling the pain... lol

I'm one of those who doesn't think Halo is anything special - fluff wise nor game wise. Depending on scale I may pick up some bits of the ground war stuff to use with other games.

Never played the game, but I do like the look of those ships :-*

Actually selling stuff without a kickstarter first - is this some new fangled strategy that they're trying? It's so crazy, it may just work ;D

Kind of interested in the ground game. Wondering if this is why the 2nd Heroclix set they had announced kind of disappeared.
Looking for a set of rules that adaptable for different genres.

Ironically, I just really, really like the visual design of the games, especially in ultra shiny HD. The games themselves get a bit repetetive, and some of the novels are a step short of awful, but the visual design of the stuff just makes me drool.

Just have to hope the ground combat stuff turns up in 28mm at some point.  :D

I don't think its anything special fluff or lore wise but I do like the design of the troops, vehciles and aliens.

Thing is this seems to be ship based and I have no interest what so ever in halo ships. Infantry and vehicles sure but not space ships.

SG blog speaks of ground combat games, as in plural. One migh assume it means one in ca. Dystopian Legions scale or about 35mm-but-we-say-it's-28mm. Doesn't matter too much in the case of the xenos I suppose tho.

Too bad this is coming after I've amassed a decent collection of the clix figures, and started work on reprinting and rebasing them, but if the ground combat rules are 28mm skirmish and appeal,to me, then I'll get them, and I may supplement my collection of clicky guys with some models from their range.

aye the troops look good, and the vehicles - although I'm not so sold on much from the alien side of things. wouldn't say no to some warthogs.
