Town Streets Questions

Hey Guys,
 I'm starting on attempting to make my own streets for my town - I've got one board started (I want it to be modular, so it's on 1/8 MDF) and I'm wondering to you prefer to put wheel tracks from wagons and stagecoaches throughout or just leave it plain?
 Maybe it's because I still need to weather it and see it finished, but right now I'm leaning towards maybe I should just leave them plain.

Thoughts on what you prefer? Or even better if maybe someone could post a photo or two or theirs

I wouldn't engrave wheel tracks into your board, but you could paint them on somehow.

I'm not going to on mine as they're modular tiles and I want  to use them for non-settled areas too.

For my dedicated mat I painted ruts in, but for my terrain boards we added ruts as well as large puddles and even treacherous muddy areas. All packed away right now so no pics I am afraid.

I left mine plain so I can use it for different town setups. I also use the same mat for the Sudan, Northwest Frontier, and Mexico.

I use my 'plain' version as a set-up for most things from Mordheim to the Old West and everywhere else in between.
