Will this truck work for 28mm Future Wars?
« on: September 22, 2008, 11:41:40 AM »
I'm having a bit of a Dilemma , I have three of these trucks and have started by throwing away the original chassis . This narrows the width of the wheels and lowers the height of the vehicle. But I keep thinking its too big  >:( I'm not a fan of using 1/64 scale vehicles but have bought a few already just in case but they look too small  :?
I also like the look of the Ainsty/Old Crow vehicles but dont want to buy any just yet as I'm going on holidays soon so dont want to max out the credit card . They might also arrive when I'm gone  :'(

Any suggestions/ideas ?

doesn't look all that big.  Besides in the future I'm sure we will still have Rednecks who love really big trucks with really big tires.  I'd use it.

I'd say it looks fine, putting some 120cm tyres onto such a car isn't impossible I'd say.
The Ainsty cars are very big, close to 1:43. The Old crow tanks are also huge but they are fantasy vehicles so it doesn't matter much.

This is big:

How the hell did your neighbour get the bricks under it to take the tyres? lol ;D

They have bricks 3 feet long in Texas.

Well, everything else is bigger  lol

Too big?  You must not have many trucks around where you live.  Every third truck driving around here (East Texas) is about that size.  The other two-thirds are larger.

Don't throw it away but don't buy any more of them either. In my opinion it looks too big and toylike, but not so much that it can't be overcome, I'd suggest just adding some detail, taking off thge lights on the roof, and painting it in a rather dull colour (with the bottom rather dark and dirty to make it look a bit smaller). Use some black trimming here and there too to make it look smaller. Personally, I think the tyres aren't too bad and would do well in piles as cover, but the body itself is the biggest problem, so I'd say stick to scale models in the future 8)

It's not too big, it looks just right for some of the big crew cab trucks. (though the bed could be longer) And I know I've seen some around here with the body jacked up and with those silly big tires on it. Good for muddy ground I suppose.

Ok looks like we have some mixed opinions  :)

I just compared the Blue truck with a Corgi Land Rover . The door on the Corgi model is about the same width but shorter in height and the body is a bit smaller .

I think I will paint it up and then decide , its fantasy afterall so guess it wont matter that much . Incidently I have some 4x4 chassis about the same size as the earthmover pictured above which I will convert to some kind of contruction vehicle.

The vehicles will be moving through a destroyed city so some degree of rough terrain ability would be good.
