Dead Man's Hand : mexican gang and citizen militia
« on: February 24, 2015, 08:22:20 AM »
For a couple of weeks, I'm playing some Dead Man's Hand games in my gaming club.
At the moment, I've painted a mexican gang from Black Scorpion miniatures, but I think to add more minis and some 4Ground scenery in a near future...

The whole gang :

And some detail pics :

Great looking figures and very nicely painted. Looking at the closer shots...they certainly look like they have seen it all as their mustaches are greying and the looks on their faces looks haggard and worn.... ;)

Thanks for sharing.

astounding!
i would love an explanation of your seemingly sharp highlights, but how exactly you keep the extremity of the highlight tone and blend so smooth?

was that worded ok?

i am talking about the almost nmm of the black jeans in the first two photos. they almost shine and i love it, it could be a GREAT way of doing leather!

Gorgeous paint work!  I've been meaning to grab another set of BS Mexicans sometime soon.  Love the ones I have (though they're metal...)

Thanks for comments !

I love those old guys, but the Black Scorpion resin minis are really difficult to clean properly...

astounding!

For the black, I use the following recipe :

- black undercoat (as always with me)
- 1st highlight using PA black + GW mechanicum grey
- 2nd highlight using GW mechanicum grey
- 3rd highlight in codex grey (only lining)
- black wash
- final highlight on the sharpest edges with a light grey (for me it's GW celestra grey)

I use this recipe for leather, and be toning down the grey, for plastic/composite guns (for example on my Infinity minis).

Hope it helps.
