Another very beautiful paintjob einarolafson.

Must admit, much as I like what the sculptor is doing with this range overall, the Atlanteans don't grab me. Apart from the shield, they are basically Romano-Greeks with a dash of Trijan Empire thrown in. The Neanderthals, Simians and Amazons all seem very originally designed, brilliantly executed figures. Whereas unfortunately, the Atlanteans look like a lot of other figures I've seen before. But I guess he's trying to create a whole new universe with a lot of different groupings, so fair play to him.

Very nice painting though  :)

Thanks!! As we talk I'm working on another group of miniatures, so I'll post some more stuff soon.

Thanks Captain Blood, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your cavemen and simians!!

You are right indeed, they have that historical feeling, and I think Steve loves so much Greek, Macedonian and Hellenistic history in general that he gave them that look (we all have seen the huge quantity of that kind of historical miniatures made by him for Foundry, Gripping Beast, Artizan/Gorgon, Northstar, his very own Lucid Eye). But as you said, it might work in that universe he is trying to recreate, maybe when he release a bit more of information about the Savage Core project it'll make more sense.

Thanks for the link, you where faster than me  :) :D

Cheers.

I agree about the Atlanteans. They just don't grab me. I assume they are meant to be the remnant of some ancient civilisation, to me they are just a bit too, erm, straight. I sort of expected a bit more of a fantasy element creeping in to their design; enclosed helmet, heavy armour, battle hardened. Kind of like an ancient version of medieval Knights. In my head,at least, they'd be the force all the other factions try to avoid getting into contact with..

Anyway, as already mentioned, none of my rambling detracts from the superb paintwork.   :D

Great job on the Alantean, I like the "oceanic" colours.

I have always thought that Atlanteans would have a Greco/Roman look about them myself.

Excellent work on those figures  :-* :-* :-*

I would add my voice to the multitude about the Atlantean figure, let's hope some more characterful ones come out that give them a distinct flair.

cheers

+1

The idea of Simians and cro Magnons fighting these guys seems a bit out of balance  ;)

I guess sales will validate the Atlanteans, however. They still might be good villains for fantasy Barbarian games, Lunars, etc, so more power to Lucid Eye. I personally would rather see more cave men or Tarzan villain types. We could use another pack of Neanderthals for variety...

I'd agree with the others on the Atlantean,  unfortunately I'm not buying in to it in the given context. The other figures look great though.
