Nice.

The thing I like about the Marx cars is that, unlike practically every other Sci-Fi civilian car on the market, it looks like the driver and passengers could get in and out of them without extensive training in gymnastics first.
Back from the dead, almost.

Thanks for the encouraging responses to the vehicles everyone.  I have a few more to add soon-ish I hope.

Meanwhile, I have added three more protesters to the previous two.  Thats probably the last of those that I will do now, as the addition of a few placard wavers will turn regular civilians into rioters rather easily.  The same apolitical theme regarding placard slogans followed through to these guys.

...and with the other two...

More info in the blog post for anyone interested.

Awesome!!! I'm not sure the guy in the hood is a protester though. He looks like he found that banner in the street and picked it up to read it. Of course that won't stop a Judge from throwing him in an Iso-Cube.

Lovely colours, don't much care for the figs themselves, but your pj's make them shine all the same :-*

Thanks for the feedback folks!

As props for games, anything that encourages a smirk is to be encouraged I think and these oddballs seem to have achieved that goal :)

Brilliant additions, especially Quiffy with the funky kneepads.

Thanks Mason.  The quiffy head comes from the Gangs of Mega City One plastic set that came out over a decade ago.  I have never been able to use any of the components with any degree of satisfaction before now, but the more detailed kneepads on the three newly painted figures do come from that set.

The quiffy head is essentially an awful bit of manufacturing, with ears than blend into hair via mould line in addition to weird facial proportions.  Despite that, the head does give that distinct futuristic-via-late-seventies/early eighties-punk-fashion that is so synonymous with Mega City One, so I used it anyway.  Just dont examine it too closely...

He looks like he found that banner in the street and picked it up to read it.

Ha ha, thats exactly what it looks like! The model is supposed to be burning a flag (although I couldnt make out a lighter in his right hand, but I assume that there is one there.  I should really have painted the flag to look like it is burning but I didnt because:

1) it would be difficult and time consuming and fun as these guys are, I dont want to spend too much time on NPC types
2) conceptually, I couldnt decide what sort of slogan would go on a flag that these guys are burning.  We know that they are pro late 80s/early 90s chart music, but what do they really object to, what would they burn effigies of?

My conceptual extrapolation skills failed me at this point - a complex message is not appropriate for these models anyway - so he ended up looking like he managed to drop his sign in dog poop or something, hence the "Cant touch this"  ::)

Lovely colours, don't much care for the figs themselves, but your pj's make them shine all the same :-*

Thanks hubbahubba.  At this point in a lifetime of the hobby my mission statement is to take the line of least resistance to get miniatures painted to a standard that I am happy with for gaming purposes.  Expediting this means that I sometimes paint slightly sub par sculpts because they are close in concept to what I need to represent.  I just try to get them done and get on with it.

Im not sure where this turd polishing impulse comes from, nor why I get some sort of perverse pleasure from it, but weirdly I do.  I should ask my therapist  lol

Most of the non-combatants so far have been a bit pulpy, a bit Mega City one.  I decided that the next batch should have a more grimdark flavour, so I got these guys done.

The leftmost model is the old Rogue Trader era "Official", the three in the middle are "Scribes" from the Daemon Hunter and Witch Hunter Citadel ranges from the early 2000s and the fifth model is an "unreleased Rogue Trader era" miniature recently made available by Foundry.

While the figures have quite different styles the consistent palette ties them together well enough I reckon.  The more modern miniatures had a lot of detail to paint, plus the parchment required some time spent painting wobbly freehand, so they took me a little longer than I had planned.  I do like them though, very few things say future dark age like these guys.

The blog post with more photos and some detail shots is here.
