Crusader Woodland Indians
« on: 30 March 2015, 08:54:02 PM »
I painted some woodland Indians from Crusader this weekend and thought I'd share.   My first attempt at American Indian skin tone and war paint.   I think they turned out pretty good except for the eyes.

I have five more packs of the Crusader indians.   I do plan on painting the rest.  Not sure when.  Took me 6 months to get around to painting these four.

The tomahawks are very large.  They are at least the length of the mini's arm.

Nice minis, somehow I didn't even realize they had this line!  Crusader minis seem to lean towards the chunkier side, but I like them for a lot of things (especially the gladiator range, but I guess that's neither here nor there!)

What paints did you use for the skin tones? I have some FIW minis, and haven't even thought about how to do the Native Americans' skin tones yet, but yours look great.

I started out with vallejo game color dark fleshtone, then I mixed in game color dwarf flesh for highlight layers.  Finally I used the GW reikland fleshwash.  Oh yea and  I used pure dwarf flesh for a few spots like the knuckles and parts of the face.

Sgt. Tristan on youtube has a great two part video painting a woodland indian with these colors.
