Directorium Inquisitorum
« on: 03 April 2015, 10:49:12 PM »

I had high hopes to get started earlier this year but sometimes things just don't go like planned. Meh, such is life.

In short, I will keep this topic as a tome for all of my Inquisitor related stuff, like ideas, plans, WIP pics, more ideas etc. And to start things off, what does a Inquisitor need? Enemies of the Imperium. And plenty of them. And since I wanted to get back on the scratchbuilding and converting horse for a long time now, let's pick something that involves a few bits, greenstuff and a lot of fun. And my idea of fun is Father Nurgle :P

Cue my Blog for the longwinded version: http://20mmandthensome.blogspot.nl/2015/04/plague-drone-conversion-part-1.html

And the short version. I like the Blight Drone. I can't afford the Blight Drone. Why not make something in the same area like one, but cheaper? And here is where I am now:

Could be a couple a weeks till there is another update.

Looks good  8)

I rather like the blight drone as well and it'll be good to see a different version as I bet they're not all supposed to be the same.

Looking forward to seeing where you go with this  :)

cheers

James

Cool, looking forward to seeing this thing completed.

That's a nice start to the conversion, can't wait to see how the final product turns out.
And I have to agree with Jimbibbly: they're not supposed to all be the same. On that point GW's "Chaos" is displeasinlgy orderly and uniform...

Great start! So will this be 54mm or 28mm? Watching with interest

An interesting mix of parts to make an original version of one of GW best models.

Looking forward to more progress.

Good one! 28mm. The biomechanical creature, of this size, would work fine in 54mm as well :) Though the more  I look at it, the more Half Life 2 vibes I get (good ones!)

I am also, slowly building. A 28mm inquisition band, and there opponents.

As yoou probably saw on the Imperial Shrine topic here http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=77177.0 I had been looking for input in what a Imperial roadside shrine would look like.

Long version on my Blog: http://20mmandthensome.blogspot.nl/2015/04/imperial-roadway-shrines-part-1.html

Short version: I made some doodles on my thoughts on a shrine:

1 is too complex for now, 2 and 3 are nice but I need to coats some wood and sand it for nr 3 so I'll start off with number 2, as I have the parts casted on hand.

I'm getting better at greenstuff moulding with less failures each day, but these 2 parts, with a bit of trimming and sanding, were all I need for the basics. Now I just need to make a detailed base for the pole to go into, on a round 20-25mm base.

Nice start, I'm looking forward to the finished product.
I've never seen that skull in an alcove detail before, very useful bit. (Could do with a few of those casts myself...  ;) )

Another thing I'm working on is Chaos Heavy Gun Servitors that can also count as Bikers of sorts. Bear with me. If not, read my Blog >> http://20mmandthensome.blogspot.nl/2015/03/doomwheel-part-1.html

Old school epic players may remember it. the Chaos Doomwheel.

I think they can be used in Inquisitor as well. Either as servitors or bikes or whatever designation I as a DM can stick on it.

I received several envelopes with bits sofar, either paid for the shipping or got them for free, for which I thank my benefactors. My mate Sander even sent me a box full of Imperial Guard en Space Marine bits for nothing, bless him. Anyway, we had a brainstormsession tonight with a few mates to see how we want to arm them. Options were assault cannons, lascannons, twin bolters, heavy bolter, (heavy) flamer, CCW, meltaguns, plasmaguns, next to the twin linked bolter that is already on it (the gargoyle faces). It had to be within budget for 2 more models, so a total of 4, for a max of 10 euros of additional bits. Nothing beats a brainstormsession while kneedeep in bits!

In thye end, we settled for a twin Assault cannon version using the Dreadnaught assault cannon so it can double as a grenade launcher, twin autocannons using the old Ork Biker ones, twin (heavy) flamer one using the Sentinels flamers and a CCW version using lots of left over spikes and pointy bits, plus 2 CCW off the Sentinel (that nobody ever uses). Thx to my mates Sander's giftbox we managed to find all of the weapons in one go! I've got enough parts to make 2 more basic wheels (just tanktracks and 5x 40mm 2mm thick round bases glued together) and I'm edging towards using biker bases for these, 50x25mm pill shaped ones. 12 of them in 2mm MDF will set me back 1.20 Pounds but then the postage hits. Hmmm. I've got a big bag of plastic 25x50mm bases....not a hard choice, I will just round off the edges and save me the expense. Jay, 10 euros saved!

Now off to actually build 2 more.

Ah-ha! Now I know what you want to build!

It seems so obvious when I think about it (a wargaming friend built one ~5 years ago).

Cat's out of the bag now  ;)

And since I could not sleep yet, I made my first shrine. A bit of doodling in 3D using brass rod, greenstuff bits and a 25mm multiplex 2mm base (I'm not a fan of GW's version of concrete shoes). I'm not going to junk the base, when painted, I'll probably dust it with some light pigments, but no grass or anything. And you can make up your own story why there is another loose cable on the side  :D

The back looks a bit rough, but is actually smooth. Not everything is perfectly straight, but I'm not an engineer  ;)
