Fantastic    :-*

Beautiful painting, especially the eyes of the Hláka; they are amazing, but I don't think Prince Eselne would be caught dead in red    lol

Don't forget red is the colour for the War God Karakan, and Eselne is a worshiper of Karakan. One could argue that he should prefer the Tsolyani national colour of Azure blue...(maybe that suit is away being cleaned).

The armies do tend to wear the national colour but there are examples - such as the Legion of the Lord of Red Devastation - where the main colour is red again.

To my mind it is like the French army of the Seven Years War: most wore white coats, but German units wore blue and the Wild Geese (Irish) wore red - as did the Swiss units IIRC.

Regards,

Howard

Roy, and Howard - I stand corrected     ;)

However, my version of Eselne will be in blue (red trim maybe    ;) ), and it will not look nearly as nice as that one...

Well, maybe he should have more blue. I suppose it is a topic around camp..."How loyal is he?" etc...

OTOH, Mu'ugalavya is the nation that wears red, and they tend to be Vimuhla worshippers (the other War God - and Lord of Flame).

And Karakan and Vimuhla are pretty much in opposite camps - yet both favour some shade of red - so it makes all the colour associations a bit more complicated that first realized.  :D

Er, yes, he would, at least in the time I knew him. As an Imperial Prince, he's usually be all dressed up in blue and gold, but the figure shows him in his office as a ranking officer in his Temple, that of Karakan - Stability God of War (*cough*. A pale imitation of my own Temple of Lord Vimuhla, Lord of War and Red Devastation, and the Change counterpart of Lord Karakan. *cough*) - and so he's in the usual red and gold (with a blue kilt) of the temple. Dave Sutherland did the original artwork, using concept art by the Professor, and I think both the scluptor and painter have really caught that 'Tekumel look' Phil liked.

Wonderful work!

And don't sell yourself short, either! I love looking at your own work! :)

Meanwhile, everybody else on this thread is wondering what us Tekumel fans are nattering on about... :)

You got it -  shades of blue for the basic colors, and lots of gold trim with some red trim as a minor color. Perfect. Gaudy, like all our suits, but perfect... :)

Ain't gonna be a topic around the camp; he's an Imperial Prince... :)

Good points on the colors! We 'matchheads' prefer red-oranges as a sign of our devotion to the Flame, but our colleagues across the border do use darker reds as trim. No idea if this will work, but here goes...

What fantastic painting.  The lighting in The Sacrifice was particularly effective.
