28mm Scale Steam Powered Landship #2 - Painted & Assembled 19/4/15

Hi All,

My first 28mm scale Steam Powered Landship worked out so well I decided I needed a second one so they could engage in majestic dreadnought style engagements!

Anyway this one will be roughly the same overall size as the last one but a bit more ship like giving me a bigger deck space to 'play with'! I ordered 8 more wagon wheels from EBay and drew up some plans based on 1870s battleships and yesterday afternoon hit the work bench.

First step was to turn seven bits of flat styrene into a boat shaped hull...


Then start adding some hull embellishments...


and a couple of turrets...

An update:

Wagon wheel units built and rivets added to the hull:


Secondary gun turrets made and lower superstructure to cover them and carry the conning tower built, also added a few details like hatch, rear flagpole support, coal bunker, front tow point and lights:




I'll be digging out the FUBAR VSF rules pretty soon and see how they handle these!

Hi All,

Well the main construction is done, just need to decide on what the  main armament will be and then drill out the turrets for the barrels.

The last major part was the conning tower with mast and that’s complete, the funnel/smokestack is sorted too…




Here’s the conning tower and funnel resting on the hull…




I should be able to paint this landship on the weekend and then I can hang up my landship making tools for a while as I have some other irons in the fire that need to be looked at!

Okay the second (British) Landship is painted and assembled, it still needs a bit of detailing and then weathering once everything has had a good week to dry thoroughly (I'll weather the first Landship at the same time  ).
