That violett is awefully smooth; wunderful. Airbrush? I am also asking cause of the highlights of the speeders, they are great and well put.
best wishes

Two very nice entries indeed!

Where do those interesting dog/tiger/alien critters come from?

Great entry Chambers, I've painted all those guys myself at one time or another!

That violett is awefully smooth; wunderful. Airbrush? I am also asking cause of the highlights of the speeders, they are great and well put.

The violet is 95% airbrushed- there's a little soft highlight by hand but most of the violet shading is indeed with the airbrush. Other elements were done with a traditional brush. I don't typically use an airbrush for shading, but the fuselage is so plain it seemed the best option. Honestly I think the gradient could use more contrast.

thanx for the how-to.
Honestly I think the gradient could use more contrast.
without seeing them in real it is hard to tell. Usually pics tends to swallow highlights, so I'd rather say No 1.
Also, more contrast would give this super plain metallic surface look which somehow does not fit here, what with that latex feeling and all ... at least for my liking. So, No 2, imho just right.

best wishes

Masterful job on the shading, Matt - not just the violet, but the whole shebang! Two incredibly high quality entries by two expert painters!

Great painting Matt. I really like the airbrushed purples. I might have to try airbrush for in round ten.

Now that is a hard choice!

I am getting REALLY tired of not having a BOTH button.

It's certainly been asked for often enough by many different folks.

It's absolute need can't be better demonstrated than this match up.

Using a BOTH button will not automatically result in ties.

There will be somebody more opinionated, or with better eyes, or finer discernment than I,
who WILL choose a victor where I find so doing slights, in my mind, an equal entrant.

I want to reward superb quality, not appear to deny it.

Well done Dr. Mathias and ChambersofMiniatures!!

Just because I voted for t'other guy this time didn't mean I wasn't absolutely in awe of yours!!

Both brilliant  :-* Went for the Dr in the end, love the colour, tough choice though.
