Recapture the Village - WWI Chain of Command
« on: 19 April 2015, 10:33:09 AM »
As our collection of WWI miniatures and terrain continue to grow James and I are having some great games of Chain of Command WWI.

On Thursday evening a platoon of Frenchmen attempted to recapture the remnants of a village from the German defenders.

As the preliminary barrage lifted the Frenchmen moved up to their start lines, could the Germans be repelled?

You'll have to check out the full report on Scrivsland, where there are loads more photos.

The blog mentions 'trench-broom'. Do you know if this is a translation of 'nettoyeur'?

From the supplement:

TRENCH BROOMS
Trench brooms are weapons devised to clean up enemy trenches rapidly, either through a high rate of fire, such as the sub‐machine gun, or blast effect, such as shotguns. These weapons do not have any ranged fire capability, but provide an enhanced ability in close combat.

I am a fan of this trench broom you speak of.  :)

Good report Scrivs.  We'll have to do something about that dodgy pub wallpaper as a backdrop though!

This was a really interesting game where we tried to get to grips with the barrage rules (I think a few clarifications on these will be handy as the TFL WW1 project develops.)  I was a bit stunned having 16 points of support to use, though without many support options painted I had to rely on some of the off-table options.  I enjoyed seeing the French looking a little more en masse, though they didn't last long once their force morale crumbled.  Anyway it's certainly given me the bug to get more painted.
