The bastion...
« on: 06 October 2008, 06:36:46 PM »
Thought I'd show you the earthwork bastion I've just completed.

I've added a 'how to make' tutorial in the workbench area.

The figures are painted by Baner, rebased and lightly retouched by me. Flags, guns, scenery all by me.

Figures are Bicorne and Renegade. The guns are Bicorne and TAG.

Nice stuff. How exactly did you make those wicker things(forgot the name again)? I could use a decent way to make them.

Very, VERY nice.  Needs some greenery though, don't you think?  Weeds are remarkably hearty creatures, and withstand even the rigors of war, I would guess.

A great piece - love the gate especially.  :)

I agree it could do with a little greenery especially on the outside face amongst the spikes. It just looks a little too bare - unless of course it has suffered a lot of enemy artillery fire!

Nice job! Tutorial is great, too.  Beautiful figures.
I think it's a valid point about the vegetation.  I don't imagine anyone took the time to remove the sods when they threw up the berms so there should at least be evidence of dead grass everywhere.  It's not battle-damaged enough to have obliterated every trace of Mother Nature and, if this is used for ECW skirmishes, it's in rainy old England! It wouldn't take much for grass and weeds or moss to get started on all that lovely, loose, moist earth.

Absolutely marvellous, sir! Love the way the miniatures blend into the scenery. The bastion could be a gaming board in its own right. Hope to see a battle report next.

Besides, many thanks for your tutorials. Full of inspiration and practicable hints.

Yes, you could do a "Glory"-type assault on the bastion. Do they do a miniature Matthew Broderick in ECW Colonels' uniform  ???
