Long time no see but here's my latest model : an Ashigaru from space :

He was meant for a painting contest on a french blog but I took the opportunity to link it with 2 other models I had to reach the goal to finally have 7 sci-fi samourai :

Head is based on an old Blood Bowl starplayer :

While the rest is made of bits from modern kits (space marines and admech)

You can see here I'm at 42,8% of my goal with 3 space samourai out of 7...

WIP shots, explanations on the whys and hows plus a Haiku on THE BLOG

This time our little journey takes us closer to the roots of Rogue trader...
I managed to paint one of the previously unreleased model foundry has unearthed and I chose to begin with the scribe/clerk as it was a nice entry for an online challenge.
The model is not the best I've had to paint to be honest but it has that unmistakable link to RT which just can't be ignored :

See for yourself, illustration taken back from the Rogue Trader (40k first ed) rulebook :

I've added more shots, some whys and hows plus the usual backstory in the BLOGPOST.

OK, here's me to commit 3 uncommented posts in a row...

Like many people, Ijust couldn't resist painting my Age of Sigmar free model... But being the sort of guy I am, I just couldn't help but desecrate him !

I basically made him a proto primarch because of his size and armour which looks like a thunder armour because I though it was cool to have a 10000 years old bloke on the table :

History will always remember Columbus, Gagarin and Sanguinius... just has it will ignore all those that were before them but didn't live to tell or weren't allowed to...
There's a sordid irony for Cain in knowing that it never occured to anyone that the primarchs everyone learnt about could have been the result of painful and long researches rather than the fruit of a divine miracle... being millenias old and spending most of your life fleeing from those who created you and need to erase you from History when they first meant to make a hero of you has taught Cain one and only one thing : nothing matters.
Every consideration about good or evil, every thought about the meaning of life, every feeling or hope ... all of these are just like dust blown by the winds of time.
Cain lives now though it could seem he's always lived, that must be what the gods feel like in their sacred havens, but he knows how the fall tastes...

Brilliant!
I really do not like the new stuff being pumped out for AoS.
It is too manga-cartoon in style for my tastes, but I really do like what you have done with this fella.
Very nice.
 :-* :-*

I love the bit of fiction too.
Yours or not?
 ???

The clerk and Samurai are great too.
Great conversion from that Blood Bowl figure.

I am going to have to try hard to resist buying those 'unreleased' RT figures now.....damn you!
 ;)

Oh no.
The Age of Sigmar stuff held no attraction for me until I saw what you did with that model - brilliant - as are the samurai.
The scribe is VERY RT.  8) 8) 8)

Hurray the curse is broken !

Just like you Mason, I don't have anything against the new AoS stuff, it's just a little too much no teh manga-cartoon side for me (and god knows I love manga and adding ideas from it in my models, just not to that extent).

The bit of fiction is by me too, I ususally like to have a little bit of backstory for every model or at least every team or warband I make, it's just icing on a cake !

That clerk is indeed VERY RT just like teh rest of the set ^^

These are very cool. I quite like the other four that come with him. Quite fancy using them as local Arbites or similar.

This time I'm bringing you a full unit of deadly chaos droids. Painted in 2 nights the goal was clear from the start "get them out of this to do list" so speed painting was on the menu. I like them still and they'll play perfect vanilla robots for any kind of game.

Cheers Mason !

Here are another couple of models I finished after starting them more than half a year ago...

They're of course soem of Shaeffer's last chancers but I find they work perfectly well as characters for Rogue Trader/

Here's a little piece of backgroun, you'll find more in the BLOGPOST.

Connie and Blyde have found a common cause. They promptly escaped from the maximum security stockade to the Underhive  undergrounds. Today, still wanted by the imperium,  they survive as soldiers of fortune. The sabotage and rebellions ignited here and there are often just decoys or ways to say "we live" to the imperium. What some fools with power can rob, some women and men with a brave heart can just take back
