good pirate source?
« on: 21 April 2015, 01:10:19 PM »
Though I have more projects underway then I can work on I am interested in getting into pirates. I have decided to get the French Corvette and The Galley Washington from Old Glory 25s for my ships. I love there models but there pirates and European crews are sold in lots of 30 and captains in lots of 15. I dont need that many so looking for good alternatives. Suggestions?

You can have a look at the following page for a near exhaustive list of 28mm pirate minis:

and this is the list of ships available in 28mm:

good pirate source?

There are no good pirates.

Are there?

Why would there be?

There certainly are scurvy pirates.

Dread Pirates too.

Lots of other adjectives apply, many of them geographic or ethnic, but GOOD?

Aren't all pirates sorta, by definition, BAD?

Well, Jean LaFitte may be an exception, he just popped to mind.

Wait.

I think I mistook the whole tenor of this thread...

I ended up going with the Old Glory French Corvette and the Galley Washington. The Corvette I'll paint and use as a British Corvette and to crew it I have gotten the Royal Navy Landing Parties from Brigade Games. I plan to use them in some FIW games as well. The Galley will be crewed with pirates from brigade games as well.
I would have gone for the Old Glory models but the bundles where to  big and I emailed them about getting smaller numbers but never heard back.

Hope to have them painted an on the blog before long.

Also thank you CptJake for the links, they where very helpful in making my choice of ships.
