Airfix Jungle Longcloth at Do Or Dice

I have been frantically preparing this project from bare plastic during the last 14 days.

It probably looks a bit like it was painted with broken hands while wearing a blindfold... at least in comparison with stuff I usually paint. There is however a very good explanation!

I decided that to keep this in 'spirit' I would paint it all using Humbrol enamels. I inherited a very large (complete at the time I think) collection of these paints many years ago. I've never really used them and always felt I owed it...

I really tried hard to do it, but must admit that I folded in the end and used some AP washes on the gurkhas. The Japanese are 100% humbrol and oil wash. I didn't master it. 

I like how the enamels flow and cover, but I think my use of these will be limited. There are some hard limitations to bear in mind too.







The whole deal is going to be used with Brink of Battle skirmish rules during my participation convention Do or Dice in Kiel/Rendsburg Germany tomorrow.

I'm a really big fan of skirmish gaming with big figures and these will not be the last 1/32 or 54 mm figures I paint. Along with the paints I also inherited a huuuuuuuuge collection of 1/35 vehicles, 1/32 aeroplanes and so on... they've never seen anything but the shelves but I think I have to look into use them for gaming.

I bought the jungle outpost too:





It needs more love, but I think it's fit for fight at the weekend.

I also made a bunch of jungle terrain, but haven't had the time to photograph it yet.

Excellent work. Those old Airfix figures have stood up well. The painting is great.

Proper oldskool that - Airfix 1/32 polythene figs and Humbrol enamels and the results are superb.
Did you prime the figs before painting at all?

Love the Jungle Outpost but never owned one.

Still have my 1/32 Strongpoint knocking about somewhere painted with original Airfix enamels in the very late 1970s I would think.... in the strive to finish things as quickly as possible I was probably more productive as a 9 or 10 year old with the paint & brushes than I am now

I much recommend this convention if you're anywhere near Kiel or Germany.

I got so caught up in gaming other stuff that I only managed one brief demo of this game though. I will bring it to Perspective, a convention in Copenhagen next week, too I think.
