Really impressive, now I want one in 28mm..  :)   The real challenge I have found in the past in 28 is getting crew that look the right scale compared to the vehicle and yet aren't so small they look ridiculous next to 'standard' 28mm infantry.
Do you use 1/48 or 1/56 vehicles?

1/56. If I was starting again, I would use 1/48th or 1/50th, but I started with the various plastic kits, and when I started 3d printing, made sense to continue in that scale. It also makes a surprising amount of difference when playing Tetris to fit vehicles into 4ltr Really Useful Boxes.

Are there many 1/50 scale kits? There seems to be a pretty decent 1/48 range, pity they didn’t stick to one scale, guess it’s the same as 1/72 and 1/76.

Hi guys

Not quite finished the 1/72 Sd.Kfz 7/1, need to find a steering wheel, plenty in my spares box, do some weathering, maybe add some stowage, and I might try and find another ammo handling figure in my stash, then finish of the base.

The next randomly picked shelf queen will be this Italeri Pz III J quickbuild, as these are wargaming models, not display, I don’t mind using quickbuilds.

 Hi guys

Some work done on the 1/72 Italeri Pz IIIJ quick build, gave it a khaki filter, painted some details, clear coat, added decals, then an oil pin wash, will do some chipping, drybrushing, then weathering.

Have picked 2 smaller models for the next shelf queen challenge, an S-model Sd.Kfz 253 that I converted to a 250/9 by adding an Airfix 222 turret, didn’t have a grenade screen, these are wargaming models, so I didn’t bother to scratch build one, the other is the ICM Sd.Kfz 223, these will go into my aufklärungsabteilung unit for KG Danl

Hi guys

On a roll lately with the shelf queens, so I’m going to try and finish this MC recon platoon, almost finished with sculpting the rubberised coats, I’ll also be doing dismounted figures.

Excellent mate, I must have 10 or so sitting in my painting pile also! Doing these for 1940?

Cheers

Absolutely cracking stuff. One of the reasons I switched to 28mm was the difficulty of sourcing decent 20mm figures. No such limitations when you can convert to that standard.

Hi mate

Yes, they’ll be panzer grey, my favourite period is 1940-the end of Stalingrad, so good for any of that period, I’ll end up doing another for 1943+ I guess.

Thanks mate, yes, having the skill to convert is very handy, I’ve converted a LOT of figures over the years, my only real limitation is time.

Thanks for sharing your work, I am really enjoying seeing what you do to improve and alter your models. I recently bought a printer and have a 28mm French army already but just the other day I printed some 20mm figures out and they look far better then their larger brothers. Your post is convincing me to try a few more models and is very timely. Loving your blog as well.

 Hi guys

These guys are almost ready to undercoat, I’ll add some gas mask canisters to their chests, and some small arms where missing, then mount them and undercoat.
