Currently banned from painting, (doctor's orders long story. ...) so will be watching with interest. Masdive dredd fan too with around 100+ citadel ipc minis and the bulk of the Mongoose KS output too.

Anyway get painting perps... or it's the ISO-cubes for you! ;)

I heard about that elsewhere, sympathies.  I have back problems that occasionally act up in ways that stop me from painting.  I find it very much the opposite of "life affirming".  I hope that your situation improves.

Masdive dredd fan too

Glad to have you aboard :)

This project is about achievable goals and enthusiasm for the source material.  I hope that it will skip back and forth across all of the weirdness in Mega City One and its associated universe, so inevitably I think that fans of the strip will get a little more out of it.

Is it Mondy yet? ;D

From here on its just one of us per week so Mr Saturday is up for Judgement next.  He may feel inclined to drop a hint about the subject... or then again, he may not :)

This week we have the first of what I'm hoping will be a growing faction. An East Meg 1 judge, we'll call him Judge Kariyev. I'm a big fan of the Apocalypse War series, and I do love the look of the East Meg judges. I'm hoping he will soon be joined by some further comrades, all determined to weed out the weakling judges of Mega City 1 and install a more... ordered... rule. This fellow is a Warlord/Mongoose model. He was quite a clean sculpt, needing only very minor cleanup. I re-posed his legs and head slightly to give him a slightly more dynamic post as he steps off the sidewalk. Paint-wise I kept pretty close to the standard sov uniform, which I'm pretty happy with. You be the judge! (See what I did there?)

Great work, he has turned out brilliantly.

I am very much looking forward to the day that we get a game in with a group of those guys sweeping through a ruined sector, complete with all of the poorly impersonated, Cold War era style dialogue that I can muster.

Nice judge there.

How would a game actually work?  Aren't the judges normally almost one man armies?

While definitely pretty elite combatants, a Judge is more of a special forces equivalent than say a one man army like a 40k space marine.
Judges arent superhuman in any way.  Dredd himself is of course of absurdly Chuck Norris/Batman levels of badassness, but its not a superhuman thing.

So in short, games with Judges (of any variety) are not that different than say a game with a SWAT team and mobsters for example.

Re: Judgement Day Project: #3 Renegade 'bot KNU7 (p.2)

Its Monday, Judgement Day #3.  Its my turn this week.

I recently got a little carried away painting a Construction Crew as part of my Sci-fi Non-Combatants project.  I painted a number of unarmed robots for that.  I copied that scheme for KNU7 (who is armed, so wouldnt fit into that project directly anyway).

I am pleased with how the figure turned out.  With KNU7 and a couple of the other robotic Construction Crew elelments serving double duty as Renegade Robots, it looks like my second completed faction for Dredd games (after the Justice Department figs that I painted a few years ago) will be robots.

Robots that have broken their programming and proceed to +++ KILL ALL HUMANS +++ is about as sci-fi as sci-fi gets, so I am getting a kick out of them.

The blog post for KNU7 is here.

Marvellous. As I mentioned to you, you've hit your stride with painting robots, he's great. The osl too, is tremendous, a great bot all round.

I need to nick that name, it works great in Swedish as KNU and the pronounciation of 7 rhymes perfectly. "Kneu-Sheu" kind of...

Nice job, but that OSL is just showing off!  ;D
