Cthulhu: The Movie
« on: October 09, 2008, 01:30:49 PM »
Have we seen this?

I hadn't heard anything about it, but the trailer looks like it could be good. Won a couple of film festival awards anyway. Although, the only actor in it that I've heard of is Tori Spelling. That doesn't bode well...

It's news to me. While I normally like my CoC stuff to be set in the early 20th century (or the Hyborian Age...) this movie is looking pretty neat. Though I'll admit Tori Spelling looked a bit out of place.

This movie appeared to have been finished and released for a few years now but I haven't been able to locate it anywhere on DVD to view it.

I really hate it when they try to update or try to make old books more 'hip' by adding  modern themes.  They seem to try to 'modernize' just about anything nowadays...

Whats with the whole gay thing anyway?  I do not remember that in the book.  Why add it to an already good tale?  Why add that aspect?  Do they really think that it will add to the storyline?  For that matter, why try to change anything about it?

And the title?  Cthulhu?  It looks like a bad rip off of Shadows Over Insmouth anyway to boot.

When it got announced a few years ago, I was really excited to see it being made, as they said in their earlier press releases " We want to stay true to the original story".  Too bad along the way they decided to veer way off on the story line, let alone the change in which Lovecraft tale they plan on telling.

I think I am gunna skip this one...

I really hope Gullimero will do 'From the Mountains of Madness' justice....

end of ranting....

It's got Tori Spelling. I'm not sure I could even watch it unless she gets ripped apart by Deep Ones.  :D

That would raise the movie up a notch in my book too.

I found this movie at Barnes and Noble last week, its a black and white, silent Movie of "The Call of CTHULHU"
Came out in 05, pretty good actualy, it was made by the H.P. Lovecraft historical society
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Gay love story, Tori Spelling, lame trailer, no damn monsters, explosions, John Carpenter synth music or drooling insane freaks?!

Count me out of that one,
Brian

PS
But if the big guy makes an appearance I might have to endure to see him chomp everyone!

I have seen that black and white movie, and I really recommend it. Absolutely brilliant stuff.

If you can get the dvd with the "making of" documentary on its well worth it. Everything is made of plywood!

BTW, does this mean someone took notice to my mention of this recent movie?
