A small force of reds
« on: 03 May 2015, 02:51:17 PM »
I've started painting some reds for Red Actions. I feel a bit naughty posting 15mm figures here, but I did say they were a small force! They're by Peter Pig. The teddy bear fur is brand new and still needs dyeing/painting/whatever you do to teddy bear fur.

I like them  :)

Don't. There are a few of us that take the micky out of any scale if it's not 28mm but it's all in jest.

I have several 15mm and smaller projects on the go  :)

Hoping to see some more.

cheers

James

Great troops, great painting, great scale. No need to be afraid to post miniatures in the superior scale here...  lol

The 1st picture is also very artistic.

I game mostly in 54mm but I can still appreciate nicely painted figures in any scale. And these are excellent.

Where did the TBF come from BTW? It looks almost OK as it is in terms of colour - mine is far too bright a pale golden brown.

Thanks gents.

I just bought it at the local fabric shop. 40% off, which made it affordable. I'd like to give it a bit of a yellow/pale highlight to give it some variation.

Great job no matter what scale, reminds of the scene in Dr. Zchivago, when the cadets went thru the field and got butchered!!!!!!!!!!!! Not saying that would happen to these fine idealists.

Lincraft, Brisbane city store! Slightly more local to me than to you  ;) And yes, I was happy to land on a non-neon colour.

Having spent the whole morning painting 15mm... (and a lot of previous ones too  lol) I would say that the eyestrain is the same. You cannot go smaller with details than a certain size, this be 54mm, 28mm, 15mm, 10mm, or 6mm... or even 3mm. There is a limit of thickness you can sculpt, mold, cast, and even 3D print. Thus your eyestrain will not be strained by 15mm more than a 28mm Seven Years War or Napoleonic miniature.  :o

They've come up nicely. I built up a couple of armies with them a number of years back, but they've never seen much action. I downloaded Red Actions a bit back to try to put them back into use, but have been sidetracked (as usual) by all sorts of other stuff fttb!

I'm pretty lucky for teddy bear fur - there's a stall in the market a stone's throw from work that sells all that sort of stuff. I managed to get a "yucky green" offcut last year that sufficed for roofing a couple of MDF buildings I'd stuck together to lend to my mate for his birthday game.

Nice painting.

I prefer 28mm for skirmish-sized games, and 15mm for larger actions (but I game in most scales). Keep sharing.
