Bateson's Clockwork Camel
« on: 06 May 2015, 01:07:07 PM »
Bateson's Clockwork Camel! A working man's automaton. The camel is an AT-AT with bits and bobs added. The paint scheme was inspired by Col. O Truth's giant walker. The figs are 25/28s from RAFM, Parroom Station and Black Pyramid Gaming. I wanted the camel to look like it had seen some use.

very neat, kinda hard to wrap my head around it not being an ATAT...but cool concept.

I think Chris Palmer added elephant ears and a soda straw snout, but you still thought 'AT-AT.'  lol

I will say I think your choosing a different color scheme, as he left his grey for the elephant motif, actually makes it easier to apply 'suspend disbelief.' As does the 'bits and bobs', of course.

Consider this a win!  :D

I like it, nicely done. :)

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. Doug I think it's a winner too! I bought the AT-AT on a whim a few years back. Took me awhile to figure out what to do with it. The long legs always made me think camel over elephant. I intended to paint it rusty orange red from the start but when I saw Col. O truths green trim I knew it would come together.

I think I have a couple of old walkers in an odd scale kicking around somewhere. I'll have to dig them out & do something with them.  :o

Nice.  This reminded me of Family Guy's "Something, Something, Something, Dark Side":

Can't help thinking those gears ought to be done in brass.

T'would be an awesome touch against the reddish main body, but I'm still marveling at the many details intriguing me on further thought.

Doesn't that suggest a St. Bernard's cask? I'm assuming the three on 'top' are otherwise filled.
