More Marders!

I managed to get hold of a couple of Marders for my Stalingrad project, they right type this time! They cost me a bit as they came from Battlefront, but at least I have them now! More on my blog:

Slightly annoying you got them wrong, as you've done a good job on the painting.

Thanks! I think I'm just not concentrating enough at the moment. I have just had to strip some German guns as the varnish went wrong. It seems to be the time of the year for all my mistakes to come out.

I get days like that. I had to strip a resin DUST mini the other day, drybrushing clothing details, and the basecoat just flaked off. WTF?

Nothing to do but fall back and counter-attack, I guess.

I've never heard of that happening before. It's always pretty hard when something happens in the last stages of work. Frosting from varnish has been the bane of my life...

I've been lucky so far. I use spray lacquer plus nice weather so far has equaled "success". I used the last of my Tamiya Semi-gloss yesterday, though.

I like Marders and painted some Mk IIIs only to discover they only carry x3 shells in Battlegroup Overlord...

Anna, I use Matt spray varnish from Windsor and Newton, it's art spray but the best I have ever come across. However, in this case, I sprayed the guns, they remained slightly glossy, so I resprayed them and they stayed slightly glossy still. I then gave them a coat of Humbrol matt spray, but it went and frosted on me and nothing I could would fix it! So into the Dettol they went...

I'll have to try the Windsor and Newton. I've been using Krylon, no serious problems, but it's not a super matte.

TBH, it's the best I've ever used. It's the stuff in the big silver cans, not the small white cans. I can't recommend it enough!
