Hieronymous Bosch versus the Ottoman Menace!
« on: May 22, 2015, 03:26:29 AM »
Well, maybe. A question from a very tentative new manufacturer: is there a market for an extensive line of 28mm figures based on the works of Hieronymous Bosch?

Darn it! I was expecting characters based on the detective books by Michael Connelly.......

Back in the day (like 1980), Minifigs improbably manufactured an entire extensive range titled 'Valley of the Four Winds' which was supposedly based on the works of Bosch... Not sure if it's still available, but (for Minifigs) some of the figures were rather nice. And extremely unusual for the time.

The Eureka figures are nice, but I'm planning something far broader
Drawing mostly on Bosch's Hell, the Last Judgement, the sketches of beggars and monsters etc...: basically all more surreal works. Also, larger elements like his strange fish and seraph hybrid vehicles etc...as it looks now sculpting on this (and a few other, historical, ranges will begin sometime early August, a good number ready for sale by late September/early October.

That's coincidence, received an email a couple of days ago from Rebecca over at Caliver Books/ Miniature Figurines that the Valley of the Four Winds has been re-released!

You have a code or link for those Eureka minis?
It's nothing, sir. Just a burn from a ray gun.

Not yet, they've only been released. But as Lagartija Mike has indicated he's planning something similar now, I think it's best to keep it on track.

The Eureka range is growing (it's already larger than the pics shown) and has some very unusual figures on the way.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Very interesting: I like fantasy with serious historical references :D and not just invented out of nothing.

....also planned a range based on the White Hoods of Ghent and, borderline imaginary, semi-militarized urban mobs.

Yes I would say there is a market...

The question is: is that market large enough for this miniature line?

Interested in it, as Bosch falls into my main collection era, but they would not be auto-buys.
