40k Skirmish Battle Report
« on: May 22, 2015, 08:20:55 AM »
This week on my blog I've got a Battle Report of a game of 40k using Flying Lead rules.

I also used Flying Lead for one of my Warhammer Sorta Thousand games -- I thought it worked quite well, although as you say it benefits from a little MDRG hybridisation.

That's a nice little village.

Also had a quick dig through the blog, I like that skip you made"

Thanks everyone!

Yes I was quite pleased with the skips, and they are not as difficult to make as I make them sound in the blog.

The village was a slightly odd mix of Germanic and Arabic, but I didn't want to use any unpainted terrain. I think the game benefited from lots of terrain, it made it more tactical, moving forward in cover, especially when there were deadly hobbit-snipers about!

I liked the feel of Flying Lead, the emphasis on characters gives it a much more narrative like feel, more in the spirit of Rogue Trader etc, I thought.

Nicely done. I think the painted terrain is excellent, and it being painted and used is more important than "well, it's not futurey enough". :)

A friend and I are talking about playing 2nd Edition 40k fairly soon.

What's futurey anyway? I'm not a particular fan of the gothic-revival revival of the 41st millennium.

I'm a big fan of the older editions of 40k, we're talking about playing some rogue trader soon. I like the modern 40k rules, but they only work at a mass battle level and I;m nore into my skirmishes at the moment.

Nice one - sounds like a great day's gaming!

How did you find Flying Lead dealt with the marines (armour/tough guys)?

I almost could have written this post myself. :)

I had so much fun with 2nd Edition, I'm hoping to have that fun again.
