DAK Perry's in feldgrau
« on: 26 May 2015, 11:55:14 AM »
I needed a platoon to play Too Fat Lardies' Chain of Command ruleset at my local hobby shop, and the Perry's DAK infantry box for 20 pounds with 38 figures in it, had quality and nice price, so I went for it. Only minor problem, I did not want them for the desert but for Europe, mostly France; so I committed the heresy of painting their uniforms in German field grey colour after removing everything DAK related from them with a cutter.
Moreover, as I wanted them ready for action, I committed the second heresy of dipping them.

Well, they look very nice.

My 20mm German armies include a fair number of Airfix DAK figures painted Field Grey, the uniforms really are very, very similar.... and you can cover a lot up with paint!

Well they turned out pretty well  :)
Don't some of the figures in the set have shorts? Or are they all wearing trousers?

well it is an heresy... doubly committed... shall we build a lead stake and burn you?  :D

you did a good job, they do not look the part IMHO, not zelthbanh...  but you have your force and you can play. Me... I will wait a coupe of week and order the new Warlord grenadiers from Caliver...  :D and in the meantime use my Perry for Libya/Tunisia/Sicily.

Exactly, now I can play. Then I'll order the incoming paratroopers and paint them with more love.

Nice work  :-* :-* :-*
The only problem would be the desert boots on a lot of the figures.
Where did the anti-tank weapons come from?

Thank you for the kind words guys. The miniatures have a basic colour coat and dipping but they are OK to play until I can paint something else with more time  ;)

I just cut off the bootlaces and paint them black.
The anti-tanks weapons come from the Valiant German infantry box.

They look great to me - if you had asked before doing it I would have said too hard to get it right - but you have done excellent work there

They look good. :) Well done.

Shame the British/Commonwealth plastics are all wearing shorts and there are not enough metal packs with trousers...
