Is there a simple way to eliminate the Replies To Your Post on threads one is no longer interested in hearing from?

the "show new replies to your posts" ?

and is there a way to mark some "as read" permanently so it doesn't show up when you "Show unread posts since last visit"?

Just go to your original post, hit the modify button, then "additional options" and untick the box you must have ticked to start with?

Go to your PROFILE (link in top menu bar)

Go to NOTIFICATIONS & EMAIL (on left side of page)

And you'll be presented with a list of all the topics that you are presently subscribed too, with an option to cancel
